Gear of the Week | Tout Terrain Singeltrailer

The bike trailer for rough terrain

by German Wehinger 04/21/2019
It's spring and summer is sure to come. As beautiful as spring ski tours are, it's time to get ready for summer fun. With the Singeltrailer, you're no longer alone, but can show the next generation of powder skiers the best trails and what else you can do in the snow-free period.

The good thing first: you don't have to give up outdoor activities when you have children! It's an advantage if your partner is also an outdoor enthusiast. It takes some time before children can ski and even longer before you can take them on their first ski tours. However, there are activities - such as mountain biking - that are possible again very early on with the appropriate aids.

The Singletrailer from Tout Terrain is a bicycle trailer that is actually suitable for off-road use. The youngsters sit perfectly sprung and cushioned (suspension travel up to 200 mm) in a chassis made of extremely light but high-strength tubular steel with a roll bar. The five-point harness also ensures optimum safety. For me, this trailer is the right choice. We used the trailer for three eventful years in the mountains. In my experience, trails in the S1 to max. S2 range are possible. Of course, other factors such as the length of the tour and particularly sloping terrain must be taken into account. To date, there are no books or other guides for mountain bike tours with children's trailers.

That means: plan it yourself. I have planned the tours that I have not yet ridden without a singletrailer using Singletrail Maps or Super Trail Maps. With this trailer, nothing stands in the way of shared family adventures in the mountains on a mountain bike.
