Tester and location
I am 170cm tall, weigh about 65kg and am a side and stomach sleeper. About two years ago I had a slipped disc in my neck. I am passionate about skiing and snowboarding. I have tested the pillow at home, in the camper and on long plane journeys. At first I was sceptical, as I remembered neck pillows from the past as being uncomfortable and bulky, but my physiotherapist was able to convince me to at least give it a try.
The first impression
The cushion comes rolled up in a bag, which is designed for transport when travelling and appears robust and practical at first glance. The cushion itself has a soft cover and feels comfortable. It has a bulge on one side for the head. One side is straight, the other slightly curved to create a suitable and ergonomic lying position for side sleepers. Everyone has to find out for themselves how they ultimately sleep on the pillow.
However, the first few nights were pretty much as I had imagined, rather uncomfortable. I had serious doubts as to whether the pillow was suitable for me, but I still slept on it for a few more nights.
My impression after two weeks
After about two weeks, I got used to the neck pillow and no longer want to sleep without it. My neck pain has improved significantly and I have the impression that tensions caused by overloading are reduced more quickly. It definitely takes some getting used to and lying on the same pillow with another person is only possible to a limited extent, as there is only one indentation for the head and the ergonomic purpose of the pillow is therefore lost.
The Recover Pillow is now also always with me in my camper and has so far proved very suitable for "at home and on the road".
To be fair, I have to admit that this is only the second neck pillow I've ever had, although the first one didn't convince me at all.
My conclusion
The entry price of €89.90 is relatively high. As a simple "feel good pillow" it is a little too expensive in my opinion, but anyone who suffers from neck pain should definitely consider the pillow. It really helped me. If you want to do something good for yourself and your sleep, the pillow is a very good choice, even if it takes some time to get used to. By the way: sleeping with two pillows next to each solves the problem of sharing a pillow, described earlier.
The pillow was provided to PowderGuide by the manufacturer free of charge for testing. You can find out how we test it in our test statement.
