What is namuk?

namuk was born in the Swiss Alps. Their aim is to give children carefree outdoor adventures - without cold hands or wet feet, without the fear of coming home with clothes full of holes. They strive to give young adventurers a carefree feeling of freedom. This is also what the logo stands for. The owl stands for freedom, wisdom and conveys a sense of security. They are actively committed to raising parents' awareness of the importance of their children's outdoor time. Another aspect of sustainability and the long life of clothing is what namuk calls "ReUse". Via their ReUse Shop, they look for a new home for used items. If you no longer need the clothing and return it to namuk, you will receive a shopping voucher. Future outdoor pirates can then browse through the ReUse Shop and give well-preserved items of clothing a second life.

The first impression: The Monochrome Capsule Collection

In contrast to namuk's otherwise multicoloured designs, the Monochrome Capsule Collection is monochrome and simple. However, monochrome does not mean boredom and monotony. The clothing is highly functional and full of features that some adult clothing does not offer.

When I held the jacket and trousers in my hand for the first time, I was honestly very surprised and my first thought was, "the combination (shell, cut, features) looks and feels like the material I wear, only in miniature". We tested the Bundle Monochrome Sunset suit in the colour "Purple Panda" and size 128/134.

Tester and test conditions

The tester is five years old, lives in the mountains all year round like the snow owl (1,500 metres above sea level) and only wears ski clothing from November to around mid-April for outdoor activities (playing, skiing, sledging) and in "normal" life. The days of use therefore far exceed our test specifications of +- 20 test days 😉. She is 113 cm tall and weighs approx. 15 kilograms.

Test report

Pants

The trousers have a sporty shape and a higher cut, which prevents snow from getting in during the wildest sledge rides. In addition, the jacket's snow skirt (detachable) can be attached to the trousers. The raised waistband is fastened with two press studs, the lower part with a zip. All zips (jacket and trousers) are glove-compatible thanks to a small reflective strip. The braces ensure that the trousers fit better. The trousers also have two thigh pockets. There are also ventilation zips on the outside of the thighs, which are protected against snow penetration by a mesh. There are reflective strips on the lower outside of the legs. The trousers are not isolated and can therefore also be worn in warmer temperatures in autumn and spring. In cold temperatures, it is advisable to wear long underpants/fleece trousers underneath.

Jacket

The jacket is also uninsulated and can therefore be used all year round. It can be individually combined with the fleece jackets (organic Primaloft) from namuk. The fleece jacket can be attached to the jacket with a zip. Ventilation zips are located under the sleeves and the cuffs can be adjusted using Velcro fasteners. The two belly pockets are spacious and offer room for all kinds of collected treasures. There is a reflective strip on the front and two reflective dots on the back. In combination with fleece trousers or a fleece jacket, the suit is a warm companion even at temperatures of -20 degrees and the child is well protected.

Conclusion

Both the jacket and trousers are characterised not only by their functionality, but also by their sustainability. Thanks to the high-quality materials and workmanship, they are durable and can therefore be worn by several generations. This not only makes them more environmentally friendly, but also cost-effective for families. A faithful companion for all outdoor adventures.

For the coming season, the combination will also be available to buy individually in the colours Navy Blue and Pink. It is currently available as a monochrome bundle in purple panda and red orange.
