First impression
The Fjellrapp pieces are part of Bergans' Lightweight series and are made from 100 percent merino wool. The base layers are supplied in a recyclable bag, which can also be used to store these fine merino garments. According to the manufacturer, they are suitable for almost all activities. In a normal winter, I would only have used these base layers for ski touring and freeriding. However, little snow in the mountains and mild temperatures in the valley meant that I was able to enjoy a long jogging season and therefore another very exercise-intensive test variant for my Fjellrapp base layers. After around 20 uses on ski tours and alpine skiing as well as a few jogging laps, I summarize my impressions.
Test report
My Fjellrapp Lady Half Zipp has now become a favourite piece. I would particularly like to emphasize the fit. I am 1.63 m tall, weigh around 50 kg and wear size XS in these Bergans baselayers. The length of the shirt and the long sleeves are super comfortable. No annoying riding up and no more free, cold wrists. The neckline of the stand-up collar also fits perfectly. It is neither too tight nor protruding and in no way restricts movement. A collar like this is worth its weight in gold for me, especially on windy days. If it gets too warm, the zip provides a quick remedy. The material is stretchy but doesn't stretch out. The Fjellrapp Lady Tights also score highly when it comes to fit. No sagging, good stretch and no stretching out. The material is beautiful, cleanly finished and without uncomfortable seams.
In addition to all these great features, in my personal opinion, the shirt in the color "ocean striped" also looks great on the hut.
Worn as a second layer, the merino wool unfortunately did not manage to wick away my sweat on the back. That was a bit uncomfortable in the long run.
