According to a survey, 40% of all clothes in my closet are never or rarely worn. When I look in my wardrobe, my non-wear rate is probably even higher. In everyday life, I wear two pairs of pants, have two to three favorite sweaters and I wear a handful of shirts, alternating between them depending on the day of the week. When it comes to skiing, it doesn't get any better. You have your favorite ski underwear, your favorite ski socks - which are worn throughout the season and are only washed when others complain about the smell.
It's good when there are garments that can be worn for every conceivable occasion - like the Atom Hoody from Icebreaker. Basically, I have the following criteria for a top: it has to fit, not be too warm and not too obtrusive - and have a hood. I've been wearing the Atom Long Sleeve Zip Hoody since fall 2014 and wouldn't want to take it off again. And because I like it so much, I got myself the new model with a fleece insert this fall. I wear them alternately from Monday to Sunday. Whether at work, jogging or in the mountains. The hoody cuts a fine figure everywhere!
The new model is made from 86% merino wool, 10% nylon and 4% Lycra. It has a fleece-like inside (unlike the 2014 model), which feels very comfortable against the skin. The 2015 model is significantly warmer and can be used as a mid-layer for every conceivable sport - although I personally reach for something warmer in very cold temperatures.
The fit is rather close to the body and slightly longer, which I find very comfortable. I wear a size M at 176cm and it fits quite well.
As with many Icebreaker products, the "odour-neutralizing" feature is special. I rarely wash the hoody - and not so much because of the smell, but rather because of the user's unfocused food intake.
Conclusion
Comfortable to wear, warm, chic and doesn't stink. Suitable for everyday and outdoor use, what more could you want?
