Snow of Tomorrow | Clothing turns people into individuals…
01/20/2026 • Deniz Branke & Oceane LaunayThe market for outdoor clothing is booming. This is understandable, as our equipment accompanies us on many mountain adventures. However, this is precisely why it is worth taking a sober look at the origin of the materials, how they are produced and what impact they have. Issues such as animal welfare, resource conservation and climate protection should not be "fun brakes", but are part of a responsible approach to our environment. Sustainability does not mean doing without, but making conscious choices. If you are out and about in the mountains, you can also make sustainable choices when buying. And no, this is not about doing without and pointing fingers, this is about buying and using wisely! -

Gear of the Week | Arc'teryx Rush Jacket
03/09/2025 • Pascal SchindlerToday I'd like to introduce you to the Arc'teryx Rush jacket. Advertised as a freeride jacket, this model has been on the market for a few years now. But what characterises this jacket? I've had it with me on ski days in the resort, on tours in remote corners of the Alps and when buying soil for my houseplants - in sunshine and rain. Does this jacket deliver what it promises? -

Gear of the Week | Zajo Karakorum Jacket
03/02/2025 • Sebastian Siep
Three-layer jackets for skiing are nothing special in themselves. Numerous brands offer them in all colours and functionalities - often at high prices. The spectrum ranges from lightweight, pure rain jackets to solid, robust mountaineering versions. Due to their welded construction consisting of many individual parts, they are certainly complex to develop and are advertised as uncompromising high-performance products with almost infinite durability. Add an eye-catching design and the jacket is considered a premium product. The evaluation is then usually based on the most rational criteria possible: Weight, number of pockets, water column, pack size or the size of the hood and whether the helmet still fits underneath. -

Gear of the week | Ortovox Col Becchei WB Short
03/19/2023 • Clarisse PauerUntil two years ago, I always wore Gore-Tex trousers in the ski area and while ski touring. They were wide, stiff, rather heavy and waterproof. Last year, I bought a pair of ski touring trousers that are tighter, made of stretch and of course not waterproof everywhere - but they are much more comfortable and lighter.
