lass="subTitle">And the Oscar goes to... The first PowderGuide photo contest of the 2011 season is over. Over 40 submissions, hundreds of Facebook likes and a jury that literally tore its hair out: That was the first photo contest of 2011, theme: landscape, mood and ski tour.
1st place
First place and therefore a Fritschi Diamir Eagle goes to "Dicki". With a second place in the editorial ranking and a solid fourth place in the Facebook voting, this atmospheric picture is sure to impress. With an extraordinary play of colors in the low morning sun and an exciting image composition, it may be even more relaxing to head up the mountain early in the future with the new touring binding.
2nd place
With sixth place in the editorial ranking, but with the community power of 70 votes, the image of "PowTin" fights its way into second place. With the new Arc'teryx backpack Silo, the ascent from the valley fog amidst deep, dark powder snow into the sunlit Alpine landscape could be at least a little more fashionable.
3rd place
Although the atmospheric black and white image by "mattride" took first place in the PG editorial ranking, the power of the community was not enough to defend its place in the sun. The low sun over the gently curving snowy landscape with interesting plays of light and shadow, colorless combined with a hint of image noise is not only beautiful to dream about, but is also rewarded with a Salomon Custom Air freeski helmet.
4th, 5th and 6th place
The works of "martl" (4th place), "Törtche" (5th place) and "nimmersatt" (6th place) narrowly missed out on the podium. The best freeride areas in the Alps, avalanches: risk check for freeriders. In all three images, the distinct shadow outlines, interesting snow structures, the image composition and the understatement of the black and white coloring are the reasons why the editors and the community rated these images as particularly good. The reward for the photographic efforts is an Icebreaker Merino GT base layer set, a PowderGuide book: The best freeride areas in the Alps, as well as a PowderGuide book: Avalanches: Risk check for freeriders.

More competitions
As we all know, after the game is before the game, the PG competition continues early. Send a trip report to our community by March 20, 2011 and win a freshly produced Black Diamond Gigawattski, an equally new Mammut Barryvox Element LVS or a Uvex helmet/goggle set from the brand new Uvex Core range. This will be followed by another photo contest with the theme "Powder, Freeride". So make the most of these beautiful high-pressure days and enjoy them!
