PowderGuide SeasonReport 2024/2025

A successful season despite the poor winter

Little snow, difficult conditions and an early spring have made tour planning and the search for powder anything but easy. But it is precisely at times like these that the true character of winter sports enthusiasts is revealed. PowderGuide didn't let this rather below-average winter get in the way of the often poor snow conditions and can look back on a successful season.

The PowderGuide season 2024/2025

As every year, we look back on the past season at the end of winter and share our season report with you. In it, you can find out who is behind PowderGuide, what we have done, what content was particularly well received by you - and where our journey will take us in the future. We'd like to share a few impressions with you here. For everything else, we recommend you dive straight into the report.

This winter, we have once again covered a wide range of topics for "snow-loving" people with a lot of passion in the PowderGuide magazine. From brand new equipment to in-depth weather and avalanche knowledge, exciting touring tips and inspiring interviews to in-depth insights into science, avalanche research and the future of winter sports.

The statistics 2024/2025

We have made significant gains this season - as the user statistics show. Overall, we have recorded an increase of a whole 36 percent! A large part of this growth is due to the English-language site, which has now completed its first full season. Attentive PowderGuide users will have already noticed: We recently launched the French site as well.

Many new readers have found their way to our English site, especially from the USA, Canada, the UK, Scandinavia, the Benelux countries and other countries. Just like the German-speaking users, they were primarily interested in the Equipment section - a clear sign that we are also meeting with great interest globally and want to continue to focus on this. In both languages, PowderAlerts and WeatherBlogs are the second most-read categories. However, not only our weather articles, but also the weather map is enjoying growing popularity - proof that continuous development is paying off. And you can also look forward to continuous improvement of our forecasts in the coming season - we are working on a number of enhancements and user-friendliness.

We were also particularly pleased with our enormous growth on social media. Looking back, one of our first posts of the season was a little "mood booster": on August 21, we asked with a wink: "Who's excited for the first snow?" - and it was definitely you! At the time, we had 5,617 followers on Instagram. In the first editorial meetings, there were still lively discussions about how big the growth rates would be during the season. We were secretly dreaming of 10,000 followers by the end of the season. The bar was set high and yet we even managed to surpass it. As of June 2025, 19,765 people follow us on Instagram. The numbers on Facebook have also developed very positively - there are now 11,278 followers - and the trend is rising.
