(Disclaimer from the legal department of PowderGuide: Probably the 2nd one is coming, because you know: don't get jittery until the Alert is out and even then we only give as much guarantee as a dodgy car dealer with lots of gel in his hair and a dashing gold chain in his chest hair toupee ;) )
Alert period and areas
As so often from the Arlberg to France, and the core from the Lower Valais to the Hautes Alpes.
The Alert runs from Thursday to Friday evening.
Wind
First stormy from the south-west, but then not so bad from the north during the short stau. It should at least only snow up to the main ridge and not beyond.
Snow line
Only around 1900-2100m then quickly deep down. So a large part comes as snow from 1500-1800m.
But also powder at the bottom on Saturday.
The quantities
From the Arlberg to the Valais, 30-50cm depending on the accumulation factor and in the core from the lower Valais to France 40-70cm, possibly a little more, so that it could be enough for 80cm in accumulation holes. (e.g. at our betting game station). However, there are more likely to be downward surprises here, as some crystal balls only see the Arlberg amounts.
Where should I go?
It's difficult on Friday, as there's still nowhere to go in the forest. So maybe a few Wiesén du Almé in the French-speaking part of the Alps, but that will be rather so-so.
The sun will come out on Saturday and in Valais, and generally where there is a base in the west, it could be nice. Sharkhunt is still on the cards in the east of the alert area and there's not much else going on.
From Sunday, Ullr's main gift will rattle in if you are good and not on the "naughty list".
Medium term
After the 2nd dump the warmth comes, but at least in the west there is a chance that it will be dry, so that with the position of the sun and low humidity on the north side something could go on for a while.
Powder to the people!
