Berchtesgaden

The Watzmann crossing is a famous classic in summer. In winter, far fewer summit aspirants get lost on the snow-covered and challenging ridge. The tour leads along an ideal route through one of the most beautiful parts of the Berchtesgaden Alps. If you follow the Watzmannruf in winter, you should be free from vertigo and be and experienced winter mountaineer. If you are prepared to cover over 2,400 metres in altitude and a distance of 23 kilometres in one day, you are guaranteed solitude and an unforgettable adventure.

A beautiful firn classic through an imposing wall. An undertaking not to be underestimated with an approach that is not easy to find. However, you will be rewarded with a sunrise and a wonderful descent with magnificent views of the distance and depths.

I've been snowboarding for 20 years. And for the past six years, I have been fascinated by deep snow skiing. I still remember the first descent in waist-deep powder - and I remember the enormous muscle ache the days after almost as well. But what remained was an addiction to the feeling of silence and solitude in untouched nature: to the adrenaline and happiness of "floating through the snow".
