The final of the FWT in Verbier was of course already canceled 2 weeks ago. The 25th anniversary of the Verbier Xtreme was actually scheduled for these days. The results of the FWT and FWQ were frozen and the current leaders were declared the overall winners. This article summarizes this ranking including the newly qualified from the FWQs.

"The Wizard" Gigi Rüf qualified for the Verbier Extreme 2020 at the FWT in Fieberbrunn with a lot of style. [Should it take place, as of today: "Ghost Contest" with live broadcast, see below]. He has left his mark on Absinthe films, and we look back on these great, golden snowboard films that have been watched so often for their soundtracks alone.

The conditions at the tenth anniversary of the FWT stop in Fieberbrunn could not have been better: With fresh new snow and the best weather, Marion Haerty (FRA), Arianna Tricomi (ITA), Nils Mindnich (USA) and Craig Murray (NZL) won the fourth and penultimate FWT stage of 2020. Gigi Rüf (AUT) came second in the snowboarder category and Tao Kreibich (AUT) secured a strong fifth place in the skier category.

Third tour stop of the FWT 2020: Hedvig Wessel (NOR), Michaela Davis-Meehan (AUS) and Léo Slemett (FRA) are the winners of the Freeride World Tour (FWT) 2020 in Ordino Arcalís, Andorra.

Since the merger with neighboring Fieberbrunn a few years ago, the "Skicircus" really does offer an almost infinite number of descents for freeriders and ski tourers. During our visit, we were particularly impressed by the opportunities to access long descents in great freeride terrain with short hikes. From extreme variations on the Wildseeloder to relaxed alpine terrain - there is something for everyone.

Bright sunshine, good snow conditions, spring-like temperatures and some fresh snow awaited the riders of the Freeride World Tour at the third stop of the season in Fieberbrunn on Sunday.

The FWT stop at the Wildseeloder in Fieberbrunn will take place this weekend and Andorra is just around the corner. After that, the FWT will soon be looking towards the final in Verbier! While we wait for the big contests, PG colleague Lukas Zögernitz spoke to FWT judge Dion Newport.

In addition to learning technical skills, the freeride camps also focus on "human" topics such as group dynamics and personal risk perception.

At the penultimate tour stop of the FWT, things got down to business once again and in most categories it remained exciting right up to the end in Verbier. However, Kristoffer Turdell has already secured the FWT title in the men's skiing category. The day after the FWT, a 3* FJT contest took place at the Wildseeloder from the women's start, which we will also report on at the end.

The stop of the Freeride World Tour 2017 in Fieberbrunn will take place on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. We can only hope that it has snowed a little in the last few days and that the not-so-safe weather plays along. And of course that the avalanche conditions will allow us to hold a contest worth seeing this time.
