Karakorum

After its visit in the Caucasus last week, we are now accompanying the same low pressure area on its journey eastwards. It is now affecting parts of the mighty Hindu Kush and Karakoram mountain ranges. It is now reaching the Kashmir region, which is covered by PG weather since the last update. Just like the Caucasus, Kashmir is geopolitically extremely sensitive: Pakistan and India have been fighting over the political region of Kashmir for a long time. The mountains around Kashmir are extremely interesting terrain for both trekking in summer and freeriding in winter.

Last week's anticipation was followed by joy about the winter that has now begun both north and south of the main Alpine ridge, and about a very remarkable film. In the Dolomites, Marco Bassot puts the powder into moving images, and last year a Japanese ski and snowboard expedition travelled to the Karakoram and has just released the film. Ski film of the year? See for yourself! And the well-known Scandinavians Nikolai, Antti, Jacob and Krister also deliver!

Just in time for the start of the season, the European Outdoor Film Tour is once again travelling through Europe, bringing with it athletic solo runs and exciting adventures. Munich vet Sebastian Haag and sports manager Benedikt Böhm share a great passion: speed climbing high mountains. This means that the two of them climb various giant mountains at record speed, – and then ski down them even faster. Together they form the Gore-Tex Dynafit expedition team, which has already achieved several eight-thousanders and other highly acclaimed successes. Their latest project: the 8047 m high Broad Peak in Pakistan.
