10 year Anniversary of the Splitboard Festival at Lake Achensee
01/21/2024 • Anselm KöhlerEvery year, the Splitboard Festival and Testival takes place on the Tyrolean fjord, halfway between Munich and Innsbruck, in the cold hole of the northern Alps, in the snow-rich Karwendel, more precisely in Pertisau at Lake Achensee. Splitboard enthusiasts come together - whether they are experienced splitboarders, beginners or newcomers. Old-school hands who still saw their boards by hand and manufacturers and providers of splitboard tours and camps are also present. This year for the 10th time - congratulations on the anniversary edition. I want to check it out, it's a first for me. -

Ski movie trailers as a mirror of society: last season, some lockdown ski home videos still focused on the new and unfamiliar situation and went "ski touring" in gardens and living rooms. This year, having arrived in a new normality, the cinematic focus is on nature experiences in the immediate vicinity with the closest crew. -

City beautification trees lining cycle paths are slowly beginning to blossom and you increasingly cycle through clouds of sweetly scented flowers. In public parks, motivated people fall off their slacklines at every corner, albeit sometimes into dog piles that have only recently emerged from under the snow. More and more often, you hear the words of those who have come to terms with winter: "You really can't complain this winter."
