Kebnekaise

Calling this short adventure above the Arctic Circle a “ski camp” doesn’t really do it justice. To me, the term usually conjures up a familiar formula: guided tours led by a mountain guide (usually a guy), a few beers in the evening, and a couple of days of skiing that are often more about covering ground than finding great lines. In this case, avalanche conditions meant there was no way around the flat, less-than-exciting runs, and at times, the skiing itself felt almost secondary. Yet I returned to Innsbruck absolutely stoked — because this trip was about so much more than just skiing.
