Many things have been canceled this year and some measures will certainly remain with us throughout this year's ski season. Unfortunately, this also applies to many of the ski film premieres that have always put us in the mood for a great season. Warren Miller has been with us winter after winter since 1950. And this year? We have good news!

A new winter season is in the starting blocks and with it a new batch of ski films and their trailers. Here's an overview for everyone who wants to get into the winter mood! There are no clear trends for us this time. In general, there are slightly fewer trailers than in previous years, as the last season ended abruptly and many smaller film projects were probably not completed as planned. There is standard material from the major production companies.

Your calls have been heard! The VdW play a little encore. One last piece with an all-time favorite protagonist, in high alpine and steep terrain, at top speed and with profound lyrics.

In recent years, I have occasionally wondered whether the ski movie format still exists at all, whether it was just that its fascination had waned due to familiarization, or whether it was just the absence of Videos of the Week? The trailers for the new season at least give us hope for longer, imperial entertainment. And here, too, we are once again granting larger productions more space and finally having our free world saved by already familiar lone fighters!

The trailer didn't really convince me, but the movie makes it clear right from the start that Winterland will once again be one of the better TGR flicks. Despite the Warren Milleresque title.

This year's Warren Miller Film Tour is the first tour to be filmed without ski film legend Warren Miller. But even after seven decades of ski cinema, generations of ski and snowboard enthusiasts still look forward to the coming winter and Miller's films every year. The Warren Miller Film Tour aims to satisfy this timeless longing again this year with its 70th film.

After some of the more experimental works of recent years (think Ruin and Rose, for example), the trend for major productions in 2019 is once again moving in the direction of: "Story - what's that?" In the semi-professional home video sector, the focus is increasingly on sustainability and most films - in contrast to the previous year - no longer consist of 90% drone footage. The new TGR film attracted a lot of criticism and jokes in the run-up, as they had ventured quite far out (ha!) with the trailer to present us with the great unknown on film. For all those who feared that it would be the next celluloid joke a lá Onekotan, rest assured, it's a normal ski movie.
