Skihelm

With the "Big 40", the German goggle specialist is expanding its range to include snow goggles that have been specially designed for freeriding. In line with the trend for oversized powder goggles, the focus is not only on the design but also on many technical details. We tested the goggles in various conditions to see whether the features and design were convincing.

"The Igniter Helmet from Sweet Protection makes no compromises in terms of safety or comfort". With such a product description, the expectations of a ski helmet are naturally extremely high.

The Sweet Grimnir helmet is the pro model from Terje Haakonsen. It is probably the most advanced freeride helmet on the market - only the best materials and manufacturing technologies are used. Certain helmet cameras can be attached to it without having to be glued. This also enables certification with regard to the additional forces that can be caused by a helmet camera in the event of a fall. The helmet is also equipped with MIPS technology, which reduces the rotational forces that can act on the head in the event of a fall.

If you think back twenty years, apart from downhill racers and children, nobody wore a ski helmet on the mountain. But back then, no skier had their cell phone with them either. Today, a man or woman without a helmet is an outsider in the ski area, at least in the German-speaking ski region. The industry has recognized the signs of the times and is constantly bringing newer, safer and better products onto the market.

Well protected - or well helmeted - the safety margin is simply greater when freeriding. And it should also look good. Can the Hlmt 5 Pro from UVEX convince here?
