A Ski Boot Consultation | Visit to Sport Conrad
01/04/2024 • Klara StangToni and I (Klara) are visiting Sport Conrad with the mission of getting advice on ski boots. We want to pass on to you, what to look out for when making a purchase. Most people are probably familiar with Sport Conrad as an online ski retailer, but it originated as a family business over 128 years ago from a specialised cobbler's shop. -

Long-term Gear Review | Dynafit Tigard
12/19/2023 • Lorenzo RiegAs already mentioned in the short-term gear review at the end of last season, the Tigard is probably one of the ski touring boots with the best downhill performance on the market. And so it is certainly worth writing a full test report after a longer period of use! -

Short-term Gear Review | Dynafit Tigard
03/16/2023 • Lorenzo RiegThe Tigard (a mixture of Tiger and Leopard, by the way) is the new top boot from Dynafit. At approx. 1.5kg, the Tigard is a relatively light touring boot. Thanks to the carbon-reinforced Grilamid, overlap construction and the massive Hoji-Lock locking mechanism, it still has a real flex of 130. -

Gear Review | Scott Freeguide Touring
02/04/2023 • Lorenzo RiegWith the Freeguide Touring, Scott has a new ski touring boot in its programme. The shell of the Freeguide Touring is identical to the Freeguide Carbon, but is softer and slightly lighter due to the use of Pebax material, and the boot is also cheaper than the carbon version. -

Gear of the week | SmellWell drying and refreshing cushion
01/22/2023 • Max Elias
Skiing, especially in combination with ski touring, can be a sweat-inducing sport. After a long day on the mountain, the long-awaited boot change from ski boots to more comfortable and dry street boots takes place. It is not uncommon for the path to the nearest shoe-drying heat source to be several hours away by train or car and who doesn't know it: the appetising smell that resembles a mixture of Appenzeller cheese and a well-stocked après-ski bar. -

03/29/2022 • Lukas Zögernitz
The top model in the Scott Cosmos touring ski boot series scores points on paper with many features such as BOA lacing, adjustable heel angle and Vibram sole. We have tested for you whether the Cosmos Pro, as promised by the manufacturer, impresses with its low weight on the ascent and good downhill performance at the same time. -

Gear Review | La Sportiva Vanguard
03/12/2022 • Lorenzo RiegWith the Vanguard, La Sportiva is launching a long-awaited boot onto the market that utilises an innovative design. While the trend in ski touring boots is moving towards the "overlap" design familiar from alpine boots, La Sportiva has optimised the more classic "convertible" design with the Vanguard. We tested how the boot performs uphill and downhill. -

Novelties 2022/23 | Touring ski boots and bindings
02/22/2022 • Lorenzo RiegISPO, an interesting but also very exhausting trade fair, has been postponed from January to autumn. However, at PowderGuide we still do our best to provide you with information about the material for the coming season. However, the information is largely based on information we received from manufacturers - after all, we weren't able to scrutinise the new products ourselves at ISPO. -

Gear of the Week | Blister plasters
11/07/2021 • Lea Hartl
Last spring, the inner shoes of my ski touring boots started to show signs of disintegration. I get blisters relatively easily and started taping my feet where the chafed inner boots rub so that I don't lose more skin with every tour.
