12/10/2012 • Lorenzo RiegThe only winter via ferrata in Tyrol is highly recommended for sure-footed freeriders. After a relatively short, but airy and beautiful via ferrata, there are various long downhill options all the way down to the valley. -

PowderAlert 04/2012 | The next wave
12/05/2012 • Lars Oelmann
As announced, here is the Thursday update. The predicted amounts of 70-100 cm have already fallen across the board and, especially in eastern Switzerland, in some cases significantly more than the 50-70 cm with the 20 cm bonus, because interestingly there was no border through central Switzerland to the main precipitation areas in the west, which is probably due to the model orography, in which the east is simulated to be less high. Even the 120 cm have become full here and there outside of France. -

Test report | Völkl Kuro model 2012 / 2013
04/02/2012 • Totti LingottiVölkl's widest powder ski is getting an update this winter. Since the Kuro first came onto the market in winter 2008, it has only changed marginally. The 2013 version is now being revised and will be significantly stiffer and therefore heavier thanks to titanium inserts. PowderGuide has already had the opportunity to put the powder weapon through its paces in the deep Tyrolean snow and the rugged off-piste terrain of Disentis. -

Powder tip Westendorf
02/26/2012 • Martin HesseWestendorf is definitely one of the best freeride spots in the Tyrolean lowlands. Shady slopes, cliffs, long runs into the valleys, in short: here you will find everything a real freeride area needs. With 40 centimetres of fresh snow, we had the perfect timing in mid-February. A real blue-bird day in the Kitzbühel Alps. -

Freeriding and ski touring in the Wildschönau
02/15/2012 • Martin HesseWeek after week, we are always on the lookout for a new powder mecca. Easy access, extensive terrain and few off-pistoholics - these are our criteria. Last week, all three points were exceeded. Where? In the Wildschönau, the quiet high valley in the middle of the Kitzbühel Alps. -

Snow will start falling again from central Switzerland to the east this afternoon. The snow line will remain in the lower powder regions and the amounts will be huge in the east. -

WeatherBlog for freeriders 05/2012 – dry November and stormy prospects
11/30/2011 • Lea HartlIn Austria and Switzerland, this year's November will go down in history as the November with the least precipitation since measurements began. Temperatures were well above average at higher altitudes, but a little too cold for the time of year in the high fog basins. -

In search of the Tyrolean early winter snow
12/06/2010 • Lorenzo Rieg
Autumn is an unfavorable time for ski tourers. Although some glacier ski areas in Tyrol open their lifts as early as September, skiing off the groomed pistes is usually out of the question due to a lack of snow and the risk of crevasses falling. As a result, the start of this year's ski touring season was mainly characterized by the search. The search for enough snow under the boards.
