Opposition to cable car project(s) in the Kalkkögeln
07/07/2014 • Lukas Zögernitz
The Kalkkögel in Tyrol are located southwest of Innsbruck between the Axamer Lizum and Schlick 2000 ski resorts. It is precisely this location that could now be the protected area's undoing. The ski areas are to be connected by a lift that runs through the middle of the protected mountain area. The Austrian Alpine Association recently launched a petition in an attempt to counterbalance the ever-increasing political lobbying of the planners. -

The widespread precipitation of the last few days makes up for the last few weeks and allows late winter powder skiing in the north too. After the snowy interlude, the sunny weather continues. -

Freeride tour of the week | Ultenspitze
03/02/2014 • Lorenzo RiegThe Ultenspitze is certainly one of the most frequently climbed tours in the Schmirntal valley and therefore certainly not an insider tip. Nevertheless, it is often interesting, as its north-facing exposure means that it often offers good snow well into spring. Due to its short length, it is a good half-day tour, although the upper part can of course be done twice. -

IF3 Innsbruck - short event review
10/11/2013 • Tobias HuberFor five days in the first week of October, several thousand visitors celebrated freeski culture, film, the sport and themselves at the international Freeski Film Festival in Hintertux and Innsbruck. The iF3 showed over 30 films from the current premiere season, brought many a well-known rider from the scene to Tyrol and ensured exuberant parties in Innsbruck's town halls. The second edition of iF3 was in no way inferior to last year's event and was a complete success in the eyes of the organizers. -

WeatherBlog 22/2013 | First days of summer
04/16/2013 • Lea Hartl
After a rather chilly spring, it has suddenly become summer in the last few days. You can tell by the pale extremities that our fellow human beings are showing off as they stroll through the city, by the pigeons and couples playing turtle and, last but not least, by the temperature. A summer day is, at least according to meteorological understanding, a day on which the maximum temperature reaches at least 25°. -

Freeride tour of the week | Beilspitze
03/03/2013 • Lorenzo Rieg
The Beilspitze is a popular ski touring mountain that is climbed relatively frequently on various routes. The ascent from the Lermoos ski area is certainly the most rewarding, as you avoid the unpleasant or flat sections in the valley and get an interesting descent for good measure! -
