Zanier

The Wildspitze model is a classic in the gloves line-up from PowderGuide partner Zanier. The gloves were developed in collaboration with the Austrian Mountain Rescue Service and offer a good compromise between a feeling of movement and warmth.

Our partners have worked hard again this year to launch new products, innovations and real hits for the 2020/2021 season. They have been working on designs, colors, functions and materials. One very clear trend is to keep the ecological footprint as small as possible. We find this very pleasing and hope that it is not just a short-term trend, but will remain firmly anchored in the production chain in the future.

The Tyrolean family company Zanier sells the Evolution.xsx, the lobster counterpart to the Revolution.xsx, the finger glove model from Zanier. Lobster or trigger gloves are characterised by the fact that several fingers are wrapped together and the index finger and thumb are each individually wrapped in fabric, leather or other material.

My grandmother, who learned to drive in the 1950s, still raves about the chic gloves that people wore when driving back then - white leather gloves on the leather steering wheel, that was simply stylish, apparently.

The Zanier Revolution.XZX is a robust glove for the medium temperature range, which I put through its paces in the backcountry. The glove appears to be very well made. Fit and comfort are just as important as functionality.

There was already a GOTW article about this product some time ago. In it, I described my first impressions. Since then, the gloves have regularly accompanied me into the mountains, not only for skiing, but also as a warm glove for summer mountaineering in the Alps.

You would think that ski gloves would have the least influence on our performance on the ascent and descent. However, as everyone knows, cold fingers and wet gloves can spoil the fun. Since the overall experience usually counts when skiing, snowboarding or any other snow sports activity, it's worth taking a close look at your gloves.

The Evolution.XZX is not a classic 3-finger glove in which the middle, ring and little fingers form a single unit. In this model, these three fingers are individually insulated by the inner material, as in a conventional 5-finger glove.
