The Hochkönig, a magnificent massif in the Berchtesgaden Alps with its high rock faces on the south side. In the middle of this magnificent sight lies the Lammkopf at 2846m. The summit has something special about it, the Weißkar stretches southwards to this
summit: a classic among the steep face descents in Salzburger Land.

From the parking lot, you first head across meadows and along a forest path towards the Erichhütte. In poor snow conditions, you may have to carry your skis for the first few meters. From the Erichhütte, keep left and continue into the wide cirque of the Wasserofenboden. From there, ascend through the increasingly steep Weißkar until you reach the entrance to the Kanonenrohr on the right-hand side (approx. 2400 m). From there, continue with crampons and ice axe on the right-hand rock face through a system of gullies and ramps until you reach a ridge. From there, you continue on skis over a short flank until you reach the summit cross of the Lammkopf at 2846m.
The descent is the same as the ascent. Some parts of the descent have a gradient of up to 50°.

Special dangers: Only start in absolutely safe firn conditions! Early start is essential due to the exposure (the upper part firns up early!). Exposed steep flanks, falling in the upper part absolutely forbidden!!!

How to get there: Take the Hochkönigsbundesstraße to the parking lot on the way to the Erichhütte (1310m).
