Videos of the Week #19 2025/26 | Freeride Paradise in Kashmir

Himalaya powder... Indian gondolas? Just as hectic as you'd expect

03/13/2026
Hannes Hemper
The season is drawing to a close - for some, for others it's just getting started. Whatever stage you're at and whatever medium you're on, there's something for you this week. We get glimpses behind the NST scenes with Ellery and Jared, Ebba takes us to Kashmir, India, and squeezes into the gondola. The Bunch shoots probably the coolest promotional video for Klättermusen, and Mark McMorris says thank you - and we say it back: here's to lots more snowboarding!

Video 1: Freeride Paradise in Kashmir

Ebba is a Swedish freerider from Åre. Last winter she traveled to India - to the Himalayas. The short documentary captures the culture and the chaos in front of the gondolas very well. Imagine Indian trains - it's just as turbulent on the gondola.

Kashmir seems pretty hectic, but has definitely piqued my interest in an Indian ski adventure. A great ski trip.

Riders: Ebba Forsgren

Video 2: Facing Giants by Arc'teryx

Ellery Manning won last year's Research & Development Crew RnD Contest - a women's freeride contest that serves as qualification for the Natural Selection Tour. In this film, we accompany the 18-year-old to Nelson, Whitewater. I met her and Estelle Pensiero there last winter at the second edition of RnD.

Snowboarding is definitely in good hands. I also happened to be at Mt. Baker when the legendary Baked Slalom took place - with around half a meter of fresh snow. What a weekend! A very personal and up-close video from Ellery Manning. We will certainly be hearing a lot more from her.

Riders: Ellery Manning, Estelle Pensiero, Robin Van Gyn

Video 3: Pyhä Magic Montage

Pyhä is located in Lapland in Finland. This film, shot on 16 mm, beautifully captures the charm of the area and the special community there. Every winter brings us together in the mountains - or here in the Finnish fells.

The film is like a love letter to the mountains. A great atmosphere with a jazz soundtrack, from powder to park. And the hip jump at the end is really strong.

Riders: Elmi Aunio, Miikka Hast, Jani Johansén, Merle Soppela, Hannu Oikkonen, Kalle Kutvonen, Joona Alaverronen, Eppu Puominen, Suvi Suitiala, Iris Vesamäki, Vilma Hämäläinen, Anna Salolatva, Jenni Koli, Jenni Lähteenmäki, Anttu Oikkonen, Pontus Penttilä

Video 4: Forest Bound - A Film by The Bunch & Klättermusen

Not a ski film, but by skiers. Actually a promotional video - but one that really flashed me. The embedding of Nordic myths as well as the editing and sound design take you into the enchanted forest of Sweden and create a dense atmosphere.

This is a release video that other brands can take a leaf out of their book.

Video 5: Thank You - Mark McMorris

His fourth Olympic Games - a true legend, Sparky. We were able to follow him closely through his training up to the Olympics, through highs, lows, crashes and X-Games victories. He loves snowboarding, and snowboarding loves him.

Thank you, Mark, for the energy you give to this sport - and, in your words, will give until you can't anymore. At the end of the video, Mark shares some great words with the viewers. Without a doubt, one of the best competition snowboarders of our generation.

Rider: Mark McMorris

Video 6: Nada by Cody Wilder Ray

Science fiction meets skiing. This extended video part complements Cody's part from Ornada the Armada Team Movie. Cool intro shots then lead into his style and trap rap video style - it takes some getting used to, but the riding is strong and you can clearly see his vision of how he wants to ski and portray his persona.

Rider: Cody Wilder Ray

Video 7: ADDICTION - Trödeltrupp

I know Patrick from Innsbruck and have been following how he has become more and more involved in the film scene. That's how I became aware of this project - and yes: really cool. Great cinematography and editing, the snow dust shots almost look like fairy dust. Great jumps from the guys and a few good crashes too. An action-packed short film.

Riders: Johannes Schützmeier, Silvan Veit, Torben Knecht

Video 8: THIRD WHEEL - Ryan McElmon and Dicky Thomas

After a decade of slopestyle, the step into backcountry filming is no child's play. The name comes from the fact that they first mostly attached themselves to other groups before forming their own crew. And now the first crack at a video part - let's go!

Going into the backcountry with a slopestyle bag of tricks in your luggage can only bring advantages. When has it ever been uncool to try something new? That should be a motto in everyone's life.

Riders: Ryan McElmon, Dicky Thomas

Video 9: Day In, Day Out - Jared Elston at Natural Selection Tour

In this video we follow Jared from Oregon to Revelstoke, Alaska, for the NST. We see how he chooses his lines, wrestles with Gigi Rüf and gives a little insight behind the scenes. Such a thoughtful snowboarder with his very own style.

Rider: Jared Elston

Video 10: Pillow Dreams in Italy - An unforgettable ski trip with the boys (Vlog)

David Meier, the wunderkanbe from the Arlberg, travels to Italy with friends to brave a snowstorm and enjoy the best powder laps in a small Italian resort. It really makes you envious. A fun group and an entertaining vlog.

Video 11: Off the Record E3 - Georgia Pro restaged in Kühtai | GoPro x FWT

What a difficult year for the organizers: first no contest in Georgia, then a restage in Kühtai - also cancelled - and now the cancellation for Fieberbrunn. Fans and athletes are naturally disappointed, but understand the safety concerns. The tour will definitely have to look for snow-safe stops next season, as Austria has unfortunately become very variable.

Nevertheless, Marcus Goguen had an intensive time in Georgia and Innsbruck. Unfortunately, a crash hasn't brought the result he was hoping for so far, and now there is no way to improve on this, which has severely diminished his chances of winning the title.

Event of the week: GMON Airlines Sessions 2026

The "Airline Session" says it all. Three years ago, Gmon from Innsbruck created an event where he and his team of flight attendants shape kickers that are distributed across the 3-person support lift. It is aimed at professional riders and anyone who wants to come along. There are road gaps, triples, beers and crashes.
