Videos of the Week #4 2025/26 | Fingers Crossed

From bakers on skis to legends with mohawks

11/14/2025
Hannes Hemper
Mid-November - and everyone is starting to feel the coming winter. My highlight of the week is a street video from Montreal in which Ed Joy shines. We also discover new parallels between baking and skiing and get some life wisdom from legend Glen Plake: it's about living loud enough to feel it, raw enough to remember it, and brave enough to keep doing it - even when the world tells you to back off.

Video 1: FINGERS CROSSED by Rudy Lepine and Tristan Steen

Welcome to Montreal! We're keeping our fingers crossed, but the boys don't need much to make the streets unsafe. A tribute to street skiing: The music and editing create a retro-inspired atmosphere and take you on an emotional journey full of creative tricks. Everything Ed Joy is involved in is artistically first class anyway. Fingers crossed for more!

Riders: Chris Boyer, Édouard Therriault, Tom Galarneau, and Rudy

Video 2: The Realm | A Snowboard Film

The snowboard film of the year - what a crew! As expected, there are big tricks, accompanied by a soundtrack that takes you straight back to the snowboarding era of the 2000s. The step-down section in particular stands out: Torgeir's Cab 12 is simply gigantic. And King of Style Stale - one trick better than the next.

Riders: Brin Alexander, Stale Sandbech, Darcy Sharpe, Torgeir Bergrem, Chris Rasman, Mikey Ciccarelli, Jody Wachniak, Mark Sollors and Sean Miskiman

Video 3: Subtle | feat. Celeste Pomerantz & Delilah Cupp

Delilah Cupp and her boyfriend Peter Kaiser, a biker from Innsbruck, skillfully stage the winter adventures of Celeste Pomerantz and Delilah Cupp. Beautiful pillow shots, combined with short speech interludes, add humor and make the winter edit particularly charming. Stylish backcountry riding, successful slash shots and small lines round off the video.

Video 4: The Most Extreme Ski vs. Bike On Snow - TWO FACED feat. David Meier

David already impressed me with his film last year. This time, with his new sponsor Boss and a bigger budget, he goes one step further. Taking off from a hot air balloon, switching to a bike and even deep snow lines on the bike - in one short section you can see the runner under the front wheel, it could hardly be any other way. Absolutely Hollywood-worthy!

Video 5: Bread & Butter - A Bakers Tale by Justin Mayers

I didn't know Blaine before, which is quite rare in the scene. But wow, I won't forget his name in a hurry. He impresses with his technical lines and big tricks in the backcountry. The video is also very well done and has a lot to offer food lovers. During his injury break, baking became a new creative medium for him.

Rider: Blaine Gallivan

Video 6: dawn by Hiromu Ono

Welcome to Whistler, where everything from spring park riding to powder runs are possible. My personal highlight is the "train" of six snowboarders on Air Jordan, one of the most famous cliffs in Whistler. You first jump into one and then out of an even bigger cliff. Short and sweet, with a good punk feel - five minutes that are absolutely worth it.

Rider: Hiromu Ono and friends

Video 7: BEST OF SKIING - 2024/2025 by Ty Theoret

With his victory at the Natural Selection, Craig has impressively proven that he is currently the best freerider in the world. His only possible competition is Sam Kuch. Craig's interpretation of the terrain is unique, he skis his lines fluidly, without hesitation, with full calculation and impressive big sends. This short compilation shows the ski highlights of the past year, especially his lines at the Natural Selection, including the 360 transfers ... simply world class.

Rider: Weazy Davis aka Craig Murray

Video 8: Skiing Bad Rock - Idaho's Hidden Giant by Dan Noakes

Deep in Idaho's Lost River Range, we discover this natural wonder. What an impressive rock formation! The folds in the rock give the lines an incredible appearance. Three friends set off in spring to explore the terrain: first by truck, then by bike, on foot and finally on touring skis. A beautiful vlog that perfectly captures the spirit of adventure!

Riders: Dan Noakes, Danny Bryson, Michael Wynkoop

Video 9: AT LEAST | Freeski Vanlife Gone South

Jennie-Lee Burmansson and Fabian Agartson realized a one-year project between Innsbruck and Sweden. With big plans for street segments, powder shots and impressive park shots, they started with full motivation - but the reality soon looked different. The snow didn't materialize, the car broke down and the SD cards filled up with "almost" moments. At some point, between all the chaos and setbacks, the hunt for the perfect shot took a back seat - and it was all about having fun skiing.

Video 10: "IN COLOURS" - A Story About Passion - Ski Movie with Nicco Huber by Raw Life Film

The Austrian takes us on a journey through his personal story. Injuries are breaks that make us reflect and - with the right motivation - allow us to come back stronger, often with a new perspective. In his words: Hakuna Matata.

Rider: Nicco Huber

Video 11: Powder Snowboarding in Nelson, BC: Austin Smith, Mary Rand, Ben Poechman & Friends in MY PEOPLE

This video takes us to Nelson, British Columbia, and nearby Whitewater - where I spent time myself last winter. It captures the local scene beautifully and shows the heart of the ski area: the Trash Chutes. I saw the crew filming, and the fun was just as genuine as you can feel in the video. March love.

Riders: Austin Smith, Mary Rand, Ben Poechman and Eva Van Vugt,

Video 12: The Edge of Normal: Glen Plake - Soul of Skiing Ep 7

Everyone knows him: the mohawk with the laugh that could melt permafrost. Glen Plake! In this episode, he presents his philosophy of life: honest, inspiring and just pure punk. It's about living loud enough to feel it, raw enough to remember it, and bold enough to keep going even when the world tells you to back off.

Rider: Glen Plake

Contest of the Week: 2025 Community Telemark Film Festival Premiere! | TELE COLO FILM FEST

Seven short films about a small scene that should not be forgotten: telemarking. "Free verse" is the motto, and I love watching good telemarkers. Anyone who has tried it themselves knows how difficult and exhausting it is.
