Canada is calling | A winter and summer in the Kootenays - Part II
12/18/2025 • Hannes HemperThe journey has gone well and the accommodation situation has been sorted - now the exciting part begins: the snow, the endless nature, skiing, touring and exploring the resort. In this article, I'll take you on a journey through Whitewater, a real love letter resort. I'll show you my favorite touring areas, the road trips we took over the winter and the vibrant community life in Nelson. I'll just say: deep snow to the horizon, swimming in January, dancing, sauna and the making of a second home overseas. -

Videos of the Week #4 2025/26 | Fingers Crossed
11/14/2025 • Hannes HemperMid-November - and everyone is starting to feel the coming winter. My highlight of the week is a street video from Montreal in which Ed Joy shines. We also discover new parallels between baking and skiing and get some life wisdom from legend Glen Plake: it's about living loud enough to feel it, raw enough to remember it, and brave enough to keep doing it - even when the world tells you to back off. -

Canada is calling! - A winter and summer in the Kootenays | Part I
11/13/2025 • Hannes HemperIn January 2024, the time had come - a flight to another continent. Endless expanses, valley after valley. Not so different at first glance: mountains, trees, snow. Fernie – large area with lots of snow and potential
03/31/2009 • Martin HesseAt four hours, the stage from Whitewater to Fernie was the longest on our tour. Of course, on a trip like this, it's easy to fall back on one of the countless fast food restaurants in the land of endless expanses. A&W became our burger joint of choice. And what can we say: really tasty! You should definitely try it on a trip to Canada. -

Whitewater
03/27/2009 • Martin HesseAround three o'clock in the afternoon, we set off from Revelstoke in a southerly direction. Our next destination: the small town of Nelson BC with its Whitewater ski resort. We are lucky that we left Revelstoke so early. The road along the Columbia River in the sunshine is simply a hit. Exactly how you imagine Canada to be. The slopes of the Rockies rise up to the right and left of the river and the glaciers twinkle in the distance.
