The way I see it | Matchstick Productions
Aaron Vogel • 12/08/2010MSP's countless award-winning films have been delivering one "must-see? flick after flick. This year's masterpiece The way I see it is no exception. In addition to breathtaking freeride and freestyle shots, the innovative POV shots and the freestyle elements of the athletes on the dream slopes of Alaska are particularly impressive. -

Revolver | Poorboys Productions
Aaron Vogel • 12/08/2010PBP has been at the forefront of this young sport since the beginning of officially recorded freeskiing. In their new film, the aerial acrobats' tricks on skis don't come off like an assembly line, but – as you can guess from the title – as if shot from a revolver. -

Claim | Matchstick Productions
Aaron Vogel • 11/08/2010Whether "Claim" is the best ski film of all time remains to be seen. In any case, the MSP crew have a good sense of humor and (self-)irony. As before, potential further developments of skiing in impossible terrain are not to be missed. This time, instead of a base jump, a small paraglider, skis and the extreme terrain around Chamonix! A wild mixture. But this is certainly not the highlight of the movie. The highlight is once again the camera work that captures the outstanding performance of the riders on the memory card. Worth mentioning is the performance of the young Sean Petit, who makes his debut in a beautiful sequence. Personally, I was impressed by Kaj Zackrisson's part. He got across what he needed to get across: The feeling! Yeeeha! -

Contrast | Nimbus Independent
Aaron Vogel • 12/14/2009Eric Pollard, probably one of the most creative and active freeskiing figures on the globe, has taken the fate of a film production into his own hands. He paints, films and has a rather unconventional view of things. His wife, Erin Valverde Pollard, a gifted graphic artist and camerawoman, supports him in his projects. The new Pollard film Contrast was recently released under the Nimbus Independent banner. -

The B: The Backward Movie | Burton
Aaron Vogel • 12/07/2009The big B is out. Is Burton still king of the snowboard industry? The new flick from the "B" team is a colorful, fast-paced film with a good cast. The question that arises is: Is it worth buying a "promotional" video? Is it just advertising or is it actually a snowboard movie? -

NWD 10 - Dust and Bones | Freeride Entertainment
Aaron Vogel • 12/03/20091999 – 2009 was the era of the New World Disorder series. A decade of films that shaped the face of MTB sport and lifestyle with all its facets. With "Dust and Bones", the crew bids farewell with a – how could it be otherwise – smash hit. -

Kranked 8 - Revolve | Radical Films
Aaron Vogel • 12/02/2009Kranked has stood for MTB freeride since the very beginning. Many" years ago, when a group called the Froriders – did the most extraordinary things with MTBs, Kranked was the talk of the MTB scene. Gentlemen such as Richie Schley, Bred Tippie, Carys Evans etc. bravely let themselves out over rocks, rode scree and much more. These were the golden years of the Frorider - the Rocky Mountain team of the time - which had already been overtaken by the new generation a few years earlier. Kranked "Revolve" is the 2009 film by Radical Films. -

Steep - Steep at the limit | Polyband Medien GmbH
Aaron Vogel • 11/30/2009This movie is not a freeride movie, but a documentary about freeriding and its development. Extreme skiing is like the Olympic Games: There is an old time; "Der weisse Rausch" by Arnold Fank proves this wonderfully. -

The Present | Woodshed Films Inc.
Aaron Vogel • 11/26/2009The life of a surfboard consists of two epochs: Under the feet of a surfer and then in a landfill site. Unfortunately, the time spent in a landfill easily surpasses the time spent under a surfer's feet. "The Present" is a gift and shows why the present lies between the past and the future? -

In Deep | Matchstick Productions
Aaron Vogel • 11/26/2009A tree is set on fire to perhaps bring more light into the darkness, or the MSP crew wants to protect the North American forests from bark beetles? Since both seem rather absurd to me, there is only one thing left to say: pointless action! That concludes the worst contribution in this year's MSP strip. -

PowderPeople | Seb Michaud in conversation [Part I]
Aaron Vogel • 02/12/2009There was once a freestyle student in France who turned his attention to the big mountains. This gave rise to big backflips and fast lines more than a decade ago. This phenomenon has a name: Seb Michaud. To kick off the Freeride World Tour [FWT], we spoke to last year's runner-up of the tour.
