I discovered my fascination for nature and the freedom of the mountains as a child. This led me, in a roundabout way, to Innsbruck and to geography. I share my love of outdoor life and winter sports with the PG community. It's in my nature to ask myself lots of questions and look for answers - whether in a social context or in the natural sciences.

SpotCheck | Engelberg-Titlis
02/22/2025 • Klara StangThree out of five Big Fives travelled, but more than two reasons to come back Engelberg's reputation as a freeride mecca precedes it. But what is it like in the notorious area when there is no fresh snow? In the past few days, fresh snow had been forecast time and again, but just before the deadline, Ullr decided to leave Engelberg out this time. The forecast for "our" Friday is 10-20 cm and we're keeping our fingers crossed. -

SpotCheck | Rishiri, Japan
03/28/2024 • Klara StangThe island of Rishiri, north-east of Hokkaido, Japan, seems to have been somewhat forgotten. Or maybe it's still an insider tip. We're not quite sure. But one thing is certain: it is a jewel among touring paradises! If you want to climb to the summit, you need mountaineering expertise and the necessary equipment. -

Gear of the week | Wellies
03/24/2024 • Klara StangTime-tested and yet underestimated. Wellies have been around in Europe since around 1850, ten years after the Briton Charles Goodyear discovered "rubber" made from plasticised rubber mixed with sulphur and carbon black. Since then, they have not only been a favourite shoes for anglers and children, but also for many Japanese people on Hokkaido. -

A Ski Boot Consultation | Visit to Sport Conrad
01/04/2024 • Klara StangToni and I (Klara) are visiting Sport Conrad with the mission of getting advice on ski boots. We want to pass on to you, what to look out for when making a purchase. Most people are probably familiar with Sport Conrad as an online ski retailer, but it originated as a family business over 128 years ago from a specialised cobbler's shop.
