Gear review | Nidecker Escape Plus
01/29/2026 • Till MangesiusThe big brother of the Escape 2026 comes with a design that appears simple at first glance. There is a lot of black with colorful accents. As with some other manufacturers, the plus means that more carbon is used. This makes the board stiffer and provides more control at high speeds. The sizes range from 156 to 165 W, making the board more suitable for taller riders. Find out how it performed on the mountain here! -

SHOPS 1st TRY 2026
01/27/2026 • Till MangesiusFrom January 18th to 20th, the new models for the 2027 season were presented in Zillertal. All the big names in snowboarding were there. A huge test area, inspiring talks with the manufacturers, an incredible number of visitors and exciting panel discussions make a visit to the "1st Try" store the perfect start to the event season. -

Splittie of the Week | Big feet = problem
01/26/2026 • Till MangesiusThis winter, my beetle-crushers could have come to more use during the Nordketten forest fire to help step it out than on ski toures. This lack of touring opportunity gave me enough time to get to grips with my own equipment. In doing so, I came across a few topics that had been on my mind in previous winters. -

Adventure Georgia - Ghebi
01/01/2026 • Johanna Korte & Till MangesiusThe weeks leading up to our adventure were characterized by snow, snow and more snow. That's why we all agreed on the goal of our trip: we wanted to be as safe as possible while having as much fun as possible! -

Splittie of the Week | Skin tuning at Kohla
12/22/2025 • Till MangesiusMeanwhile, some splitboards already come with nose holes or cut-outs, as well as tail cut-outs or holes as standard. However, most splitboard skins—including mine—still use a front bracket and a butterfly clip at the tail. Since Kohla is located close to Innsbruck, I assumed a quick visit would be enough to have my skins adjusted accordingly. Unfortunately, it turned out not to be quite that simple. -

Splittie of the Week | Sticks? Of course, but which ones?
12/08/2025 • Till MangesiusIt's clear that we all use poles when splitboarding and that it's unfamiliar at first when switching from snowboarding. We learned how to use them on the descent from Tobi last season. However, there are also the foldable poles not mentioned in his article, which are used more for hiking. But how do the folding poles compare to the telescopic poles when splitboarding? -

Splittie of the Week | How do you tie your shoes?
11/24/2025 • Till MangesiusLast year there was already an article about the features of a splitboard boot compared to a normal snowboard soft boot. There are different lacing systems for both types and also combinations of the different systems. You can find out what the differences are and which system is right for you here. -

Splittie of the Week | Here's to a new one
11/10/2025 • Till MangesiusWinter has already left its first traces in the mountains, so the first runs have already been collected. But we can hardly wait for the coming winter either. After introducing the new "Snow-/Splitboard" category last season and launching the new "Splittie of the Week" series, we are looking forward to a new season with exciting content! -

Splittie of the Week | Licking wounds
04/14/2025 • Tobias Leistenschneider & Till MangesiusAfter the season is before the season. For most splitboarders, the season begins to wind down around Easter. Before everything gets stashed away in the cellar, it’s a good idea to take a moment and check the gear: What’s its overall condition, and is everything set for the next season? Because let’s be honest, we all want to be ready for the first fresh snow of 2025/2026, right? -

Splittie of the Week | Flex-Locks
03/18/2025 • Till MangesiusIn the previous Splittie of the Week, I already wrote a lot about the advantages of ski straps when splitboarding. So why another report about an expensive extra that has virtually the same function as a skistrap? I asked myself the same question and ridiculed flex locks as fancy ski straps for a long time. This winter, however, my curiosity got the better of me when I came across a very affordable offer and finally wanted to try them out myself. -

Splittie of the Week | Mounting the binding
03/11/2025 • Till MangesiusThe search for the right splitboard and the corresponding binding has probably already taken a lot of time and nerves. The new treasures are quickly unpacked and want to be admired, but you soon realize: It doesn't look anything like a snowboard! But there's no need to panic, despite the many individual parts, a screwdriver is enough to assemble everything before the first tour. Here are a few helpful tips. -

Splittie of the Week | Softboots for Splitboarders
01/28/2025 • Till MangesiusSome beginners may be asking themselves: Do I really need new boots in addition to a spliboard, bindings, poles and skins to start touring? The answer to this question is clear: No! But what if the boots are already a few years old and a new purchase is due anyway, is it worth buying special (soft) boots, even if normal days in the resort are on the list alongside ski tours? Here too, the answer is clear: Yes!
