Freeride Testival 2026 | Stubai Glacier

The grand finale is a home game for the Innsbruck PowderGuide faction

The last summit of this year's Freeride Testival Tour had everything a freerider's heart could desire. Bright blue skies, fresh snow and cold temperatures made for a worthy end to the Testival season. And of course there were once again great prizes to be won in the snow depth prediction game!

First of all, we have to say thank you! Especially to Carlo, Ralf and all the other organizers of the Freeride Testival. We at PowderGuide had great fun representing the Powder Collective Penguin x PowderGuide at all the stops!

A huge thank you also to the destinations Hochfügen and Best of Zillertal, Silvretta Montafon and Stubai for their support and accommodation in these great winter sports regions!

And of course to all exhibitors and partners for the great and fun time.

Saturday

After a dinner together on Friday, where I (Till) from the DPS crew was able to get to know the "delicacy" Alta-Bombs, we fortunately "only" took the gondola up to the Testival area shortly after 8 o'clock.

Our stand was quickly set up in the bright sunshine and then it was time to quickly borrow equipment and off we went!

But there's also a lot going on at our stand and people are busy typing away. As we are located next to the registration tent, we can also see the constant queue of people there and it quickly becomes clear: the event on the Stubai Glacier is even better attended than the last stops. Time flies by and there is a lot of tipping, because we have our now legendary snow depth prediction game with us again at the last stop. Based on our new PowderGuide Map with EXOLAP snow depth layer, the average snow depth in the Stubai Glacier ski area is to be estimated.

Word quickly gets around the festival site that it's worth playing along, because the prizes are really something: from Dancer 2 skis from Faction Collective to a HEAD Day LYT unisex snowboard together with HEAD Neves Pro 5K ski goggles, Alpinist FREE climbing skins from Kohla and a limited edition FWT x SCOTT Shield Google, there's something for everyone. In the afternoon, the sun unfortunately disappears behind some clouds, but this doesn't dampen the mood, as the first flakes soon start to fall from the sky. Steffen, the host of the Freeride Testival, finds the right words when he welcomes back a rare guest to the Stubai Valley through the loudspeaker - by which he means fresh snow. The exuberant atmosphere and the joy of the snow are clearly noticeable. As the first day of the Freeride Testival on the Stubai Glacier slowly comes to an end in the increasing snowfall, the anticipation for the next day grows immensely. This time we end Saturday evening without Alta-Bombs, but instead in a sauna with a view of the glacier. Then, sensible as we are, we go to bed early, because there's something in the air ...

Sunday

...when we are in the gondola on the way up to the Freeride Testival area at 8 o'clock on the dot the next day, we all realize what exactly was in the air last night. Looking outside, all the freeriders' hearts beat faster. Fresh powder snow and blue skies - it's been a long time since we've had this perfect combination! Arriving at the Testival area at the Gamsgarten mountain station, we are amazed: a good 30 cm of the finest powder has fallen overnight, so we have to shovel the tent free first. But with the right motivational sound from the jukeboxes, the shoveling and the rest of the stand set-up is done in no time at all. At 9 a.m. on the dot, the first betting tipsters of the day arrive at our stand.

All visitors to the stand have until 12 noon to place their bets. The results and winners of the last snow depth prediction game of the season will be announced at 2:30 pm. But before that happens, we'll find a free minute ourselves and get to plunge into the deep snow with the test equipment from over 40 exhibitors at the biggest freeride festival in the Alps. After a short but intensive excursion into the terrain, we return to the stand with a big grin on our faces and prepare to evaluate the prediction game.

Just like at our last stop in Warth-Schröcken, it was an extremely close race - and we were able to announce the result in front of a considerable number of excited spectators. Only 0.5 m separated the top two from the correct tip, so it was down to the luck of the draw. The user "Pistenspaß" can look forward to the faction ski. Second place goes to the user "Hallo" and third to "Jan_21". Just like first place, fourth place will also be shared ex aequo, so in this case both "Hannnes" and "El viejo" can look forward to a prize.

Freeride Testival 2026 - a complete success!

All's well that ends well! This saying best sums up our experience at the last stop of the Freeride Testival in the 2025/26 season. The Stubai delivered, so we really have no choice but to say thank you once again. We would like to thank all the organizers, exhibitors and of course you, the community! We really enjoyed talking to you hard-working tipsters and all PowderGuide newbies and "old hands". After all, our goal is to bring the freeride community together and have a good time on the mountain with everyone! True to the motto of our name: The PowderCollective, presented by Penguin X PowderGuide.
