The Rother ski touring guide "Obersteiermark" from the mountain publishing house of the same name, first published in 2014, portrays 50 tours in Styria - from the Salzkammergut to the Hochschwab region. In addition to popular tours, the book also includes some lesser-known routes. The different landscapes offer a wide variety of options for ski tours, from leisure tours to challenging day trips. The authors Uwe Grinzinger and Gerald Radinger, who come from Upper Austria, have succeeded in putting together a successful selection guide for the region thanks to their extensive experience and knowledge of the area. All tours are divided according to difficulty: color-coded blue, red or black, and marked on a topographical overview map. The detailed descriptions are uniformly structured, which makes orientation easier. In addition to the title of the tour, the summit altitude and the level of difficulty, the reader will find details of the differences in altitude to be overcome on the ascent and the time required for this, as well as a compass rose indicating the main direction of the ascent and the descents. This is followed by a brief descriptive text summarizing the characteristics of the tour. For each tour there is a detailed map showing the ascent and descent routes. Finally, there is a detailed description of the ascent and descent, sometimes with tips for alternatives. The detailed descriptions are rounded off with atmospheric photos that give an impression of the respective tour.
