Prowinter Bolzano 2026

3 days at the Prowinter 2026 trade fair in Bolzano

02/03/2026
Jared Kropf
From January 11 to 13, the Bolzano trade fair opened its doors for the 25th edition of Prowinter, the trade fair for outdoor and winter sports. With 230 exhibitors and around 400 brands, around 30 percent of which came from abroad, the event once again demonstrated just how international the industry has become. For the first time, exhibitors presented the latest products and trends for the 2026/27 winter season in two halls of the trade fair. We were on site and looked around for exciting innovations and current trends.

Prowinter Award

Although the name might suggest it, Prowinter is not just about snow and skis. Climate change and new leisure habits are ensuring that winter sports and outdoor activities are increasingly merging.

Ski touring, snowshoeing, trail running and mountain sports have long been in demand all year round. Prowinter has responded to this by dedicating an entire hall to the outdoor segment for the first time this year. You can find the list of all exhibitors who were on site in 2026 here.

Prowinter 2026 kicked off with a highlight: the presentation of the Prowinter Award - now in its fourth year! Exciting products from the ski and outdoor sectors are honored in a total of ten categories.

"Ski" categories:

- Alpine Ski - Top Performance
- Alpine skis - Allmountain
- Touring skis
- Alpine ski boots - Top Performance
- Alpine ski boots - Mid Performance
- Ski touring boots
- Prowinter Award special price 2026: Cross-country skis - Classic

Outdoor" categories:
- Winter Active boots
- Winter Expert boots
- Technical shell jacket

New this year: sustainability is included in the assessment. In addition to innovation, design and technology, this time the jury is also looking at environmental friendliness - from recycled materials and resource-saving production to durable, repairable products and clever packaging. The jury will be supported by an external sustainability expert. Six points are decisive for the award: Innovation, marketability, technology, design, storytelling and environmental responsibility. This means that the performance of the products is not assessed directly, but the award is rather a measure of how well products are accepted in the current market situation and what demand they can achieve on the market.

We took a closer look at 4 articles from the categories most relevant to us. You can find the winners in all categories here.

But there was also plenty to discover at Prowinter beyond the award. We picked out a few exhibitors and asked them to explain their new products and innovations in more detail - read for yourself:

Armada

In addition to new designs for the 2026/27 season, the Armada stand also had the brand new AntiMatter series to marvel at. It was developed in close collaboration with the broad-based team of freeride athletes. The series combines playful, freestyle-inspired camber profiles with a subtly directional shape.

The aim: skis that can be maneuvered confidently through challenging terrain even at high speeds, while remaining loose enough for slashes, pops and spontaneous lines.
The AntiMatter series includes men's and women's models with a waist width of 72 to 114 millimetres. The fact that the concept works was recently demonstrated at the Freeride World Tour stop in Baqueira Beret, where Armada athlete Ben Richards took victory on the AntiMatter 114.

Atomic

Atomic is also doing a lot in the freeride and freeski sector. The legendary Bent series is getting a new addition: the Bent Decode 92. With stronger edges and a new flex pattern, the ski has been specially developed for park skiing and scores with plenty of pop and playfulness. Thanks to the more robust edges and reinforced tips and tails, it is slightly heavier than the Bent 90, but should withstand hard use in the park and on rails much better.

Dynastar

Dynastar has revised the popular M-Line series for 2027. The new designs with modern graphics immediately catch the eye. In terms of content, the M-Line will be more clearly divided in future: The M-FREE series focuses on progressive, stiff skis with a focus on maximum downhill performance, while the M-Tour series offers lighter and versatile models that also impress on the ascent.

The biggest innovation is in the construction: the Hybrid Core 2.0, a more environmentally friendly ski core in which wood fibers are processed in three directions. This ensures greater reactivity, higher torsional rigidity and at the same time reduces the proportion of glass fiber and other environmentally harmful materials. The result: lighter, more agile skis with a smaller ecological footprint.

Deuter

A look into the backpack corner was of course a must at the Prowinter. After Deuter's Freerider series has been a real hit with the off-piste community in recent years, the popular Freerider Pro is now getting an exciting update. For the new season, the backpack has been equipped with the newly developed LiteSnow back system, which promises high carrying comfort and low weight at the same time. Thanks to the innovative design and special materials, snow adhesion and moisture absorption should also be significantly reduced.

Deuter has also improved the handling: access via the large back opening has been revised and now works conveniently via the zipper alone - the somewhat awkward loosening of the shoulder strap clips on the previous model is no longer necessary. However, the practical roll-top extension, which increases the volume from 32 to up to 42 liters, as well as the numerous, tried and tested attachment options for equipment have remained.

Deuter is also adding to the Freescape series, which focuses more on ski tours and demanding alpine activities. For the 2026/27 season, Deuter is adding a new line specially tailored to ski tourers to the existing Freescape Lite models and the large Freescape Pro backpacks: Freescape Tour.

Nivia

Something is also happening in the field of safety equipment. After developments since the introduction of 3-antenna beacons over 20 years ago have tended to progress in small steps and hardly any real innovations have been seen in the last two years, the company Nivia is now trying to shake up the field with its newly developed 3D Finder.

The device is based on an exciting innovation: in addition to the classic magnetic field signal, the 3D Finder creates its own local GPS coordinate system and uses this to calculate the exact position of the buried victim. This means that the searcher no longer has to rely on the often confusing field lines, but receives digital directional guidance to the target - regardless of which beacon is buried.

The Nivia 3D Finder also scores with practical features: a large display, cold-resistant rechargeable batteries instead of batteries - which also serve as a power bank for the smartphone - and an automatic emergency call function including precise GPS data. The Nivia app also provides weather information, avalanche conditions, HD maps and emergency numbers for all Alpine countries.

Finally , we went to the test event in the Carezza ski resort, just 30 km from the trade fair venue. There, several manufacturers presented their new ski models for the 2026/27 season and offered the opportunity to test them directly on the slopes.

It is worth mentioning that the test range mainly comprised piste skis and some narrower all-mountain models. So there was only a limited range for freeriders. Due to the rather poor snow conditions at the time, piste skis were the best choice anyway. Nevertheless, perfect weather and the breathtaking view of the rugged rock formations of the Dolomites made the event an all-round successful experience.

The next Prowinter will take place again from January 10 to 12, 2027 at the Bolzano Exhibition Center.
We are looking forward to next year!
