Raffle | European Outdoor Filmtour 2025
11/24/2025 • PowderGuideEvery year... the European Outdoor Film Tour comes down to Earth's cinemas and has been doing so for over two decades. Each time it doesn't bring Christmas presents with it, but beautiful adventures by and with interesting characters who have been out and about in the snow, on the rocks, in the air or elsewhere. This year there are exciting stories from Alaska and Switzerland, but also inspiring films such as the one about Sheri, the 50-year-old dressmaker, or Elladj, who does his ice-artistic laps on frozen lakes in the Canadian wilderness. It's definitely worth taking part and watching! And it's definitely worth reading on and winning! -

04/17/2025 • Michael Steger
Still no sign of summer break in Alaska. Just as winter is making a comeback in the Alps, it’s doing the same in Alaska. Despite being much farther north, Alaska is beginning to thaw—slowly. Spring is usually the time to "claim your spine" in the Chugach Mountains, but the weather windows have been few and far between, especially on the southern slopes. Since the last SnowChase, the weather simply hasn’t settled down. -

WeatherBlog 18 2024/25 | Refresh at last, at least in the south
03/12/2025 • Lea HartlTwo PowderAlerts after a long drought! And at least in parts of the Alps, it's continuing to be reasonably wintry! The south in particular is benefiting from a relatively stationary area of low pressure that lies diagonally over Spain and France and is repeatedly producing südstau this week. In the north (east), the amounts remain lower and will not significantly improve the snow conditions, but will hopefully at least alleviate the acute risk of forest fires. -

WeatherBlog 16 2024/25 | Whining about the weather
02/26/2025 • Lea HartlColleague Sebastian dedicated last week's WeatherBlog to the new PG weather, because of course it deserves such a dedication and because he didn't just want to "moan about the weather forecast".
