PowderAlert No. 13 2015
02/07/2015 • Lars OelmannIt has already started today, the northern congestion. Unfortunately for everyone west of the Kitzbühel Alps, there won't be much of it until Tuesday. All of Ullr's disciples who looked enviously to the west from the Salzkammergut and further east last week can now rejoice: because here there is northern congestion with amounts worthy of northern congestion. Nothing is coming in the south and west. -

2nd stop of the Freeride World Tour 2015 in Fieberbrunn confirmed
01/27/2015 • Lukas ZögernitzFor a long time it looked as if the organizers would have to look for a replacement face. But the snowfall of the last few days made the 2nd stop of the FWT in Fieberbrunn possible. After the first points of the 2015 season were awarded in Chamonix, the search for the perfect run continues in the Kitzbühel Alps. -

PowderAlert No. 6 2014/15 | Nordstau
12/28/2014 • Lars Oelmann
After the last congestion has passed and the coreshots are being repaired, Ullr comes up with the idea of giving our rather dry northerly flow a bit more pep than the models have seen in the last few days and creates a small active boundary disturbance that brings us powder. So this much less sad alert comes as quite a surprise. Less sad because we have a base. At least below the tree line. -

Spring skiing in KitzbĂĽhel
04/04/2012 • Martin HesseIt seems like worlds have passed since my last visit to the Kitzbühel Alps a few weeks ago and the weekend just gone. From the depths of winter straight into midsummer. To my great surprise, I discovered one thing: the conditions between Hahnenkamm and Pass Thurn are still perfect. No powder, but "perfect spring snow". -

Powder tip Westendorf
02/26/2012 • Martin HesseWestendorf is definitely one of the best freeride spots in the Tyrolean lowlands. Shady slopes, cliffs, long runs into the valleys, in short: here you will find everything a real freeride area needs. With 40 centimetres of fresh snow, we had the perfect timing in mid-February. A real blue-bird day in the Kitzbühel Alps. -

Freeriding and ski touring in the Wildschönau
02/15/2012 • Martin HesseWeek after week, we are always on the lookout for a new powder mecca. Easy access, extensive terrain and few off-pistoholics - these are our criteria. Last week, all three points were exceeded. Where? In the Wildschönau, the quiet high valley in the middle of the Kitzbühel Alps. -

The Pengelstein freeride spot in the KitzbĂĽhel ski area
12/27/2010 • Martin HesseA look at old ski atlases proves that Kitzbühel was considered a deep-snow resort long before the freeride boom began. This has not changed even in the age of fat skis. Many powder fans are drawn to the Kitzbüheler Horn or the slopes of the Steinbergkogel. If you venture deeper into the extensive ski area between the Gamsstadt and Mittersill in Salzburg, you will inevitably reach the Pengelstein, another sub-area with great freeride potential. -

Freeride spot Pass Thurn
01/25/2010 • Martin HesseKitzbühel has always been a top spot for deep snow skiers. However, if you talk to many Kitz powder junkies about the exact place where they prefer to draw their lines in the snow, the answer is often: "Yes, at Pass Thurn of course!" Reason enough to pay this spot a visit.
