Gear of the Week | Penguin Merino Stretch T-Shirt
02/22/2026 • Martin SvejkovskySome T-shirts look cool in everyday life and some work as a base layer for sports. And then there are those that simply always fit - whether you're climbing, cycling or in the city, the Penguin Merino Stretch T-shirt cuts a fine figure everywhere. Thanks to the two fabric weights, you are well equipped in all seasons. -

Gear of the Week | Mammut Trift Longsleeve
02/01/2026 • Teja StüweBaselayer shirts are like avalanche shovels: you rarely talk about them enthusiastically, but if they don't work, the day is over. This makes it all the more important to have a piece you can rely on - one that you can pull out of the wardrobe in the morning without thinking. The MAMMUT Trift longsleeve has taken on precisely this role over the past few weeks, when temperatures have rarely gone above zero. As a go-to shirt for skiing, ski touring or hike & fly, it has proven itself very well so far. It does its job - and does it quite inconspicuously well. And that's a great compliment for a base layer. -

Snow of Tomorrow | Clothing turns people into individuals…
01/20/2026 • Deniz Branke & Oceane LaunayThe market for outdoor clothing is booming. This is understandable, as our equipment accompanies us on many mountain adventures. However, this is precisely why it is worth taking a sober look at the origin of the materials, how they are produced and what impact they have. Issues such as animal welfare, resource conservation and climate protection should not be "fun brakes", but are part of a responsible approach to our environment. Sustainability does not mean doing without, but making conscious choices. If you are out and about in the mountains, you can also make sustainable choices when buying. And no, this is not about doing without and pointing fingers, this is about buying and using wisely! -

Gear review | Penguin Merino ski underwear
01/13/2026 • Martin SvejkovskyFor many people, merino wool underwear, also known as a base layer, is the foundation of a warm and breathable ski outfit. The finely crimped merino fibers form many insulating air pockets and at the same time absorb water vapor, which they release to the outside. However, as the test of the "Merino Seamless Longsleeve Shirt" and the "Merino Seamless ¾ Leggings" from PowderGuide partner company Penguin showed, this is not the only practical feature of this stylish two-piece. -

Gear of the Week I The 145gsm Merino Stretch T-shirt by Penguin
03/30/2025 • PiggeldyWhat a T-shirt! And the emphasis here is on "a", because the soft merino shirt from Penguin is a shirt for everything! It accompanied me hiking in late summer and now keeps me warm on cold ski tours and always dry - I can say we are now officially best friends. I could have done without the change of shirt. -

Gear of the week | Ortovox Merino Freeride Mitten
01/02/2022 • Johannes WolfI'm sure most of you are familiar with this feeling: it tingles at first and then starts to burn. Especially on cold days, it happens again and again that your fingers suddenly hurt when you are finally back in the warmth. The reason for this is, of course, the cold. We freeriders love it, because without cold there would be no snow, but cold fingers are simply annoying and unpleasant! Warm gloves are therefore essential. -

Gear Review | Mons Royale Stratos Shift Bra
12/07/2021 • Lea Hartl
The Stratos Shift Bra is a more or less classic racerback sports bra with "medium support". Thanks to the merino synthetic fibre material blend, the bra is more elastic than pure merino and dries relatively quickly.
