Splittie of the Week | Licking wounds
04/14/2025 • Tobias Leistenschneider & Till MangesiusAfter the season is before the season. For most splitboarders, the season begins to wind down around Easter. Before everything gets stashed away in the cellar, it’s a good idea to take a moment and check the gear: What’s its overall condition, and is everything set for the next season? Splittie of the Week | Tech First Aid
03/04/2025 • Tobias LeistenschneiderFirst aid: Anyone setting off on a ski tour, freeriding or splitboarding should at least carry a first aid kit for themselves and their group. Clear so far. Technical first aid for splitboarders: But I also always have a second kit with me. And this kit is not used for a bloody thumb, but for a loose screw. And yes, this can make or break a tour. Gear of the Week - Leatherman tool
02/14/2016 • Totti Lingotti
When Tim S. Leatherman patented the so-called Pocket Multiple Tool in 1980, initially only craftsmen and technicians were interested in his tool. Then, according to legend, it was the stage technicians who were happy that they didn't always have to carry an unwieldy tool case on the ladder. Nowadays, every child knows the pocket tool with the name Leatherman, there are different sizes and even special versions specially adapted to the needs of different user groups. It was long overdue to finally recognize Leatherman's many years of service here on PowderGuide.com as Gear of the Week. -

Gear of the Week | Two-component adhesive
12/13/2014 • Lukas Zögernitz
After a really bad last season in the north, many of you know: Freeriding is no walk in the park for people and, above all, equipment. The desire for off-piste turns is huge. However, in combination with little base and even less powder, it often causes considerable damage to the boards that mean the world to many of us. After short outbursts of anger, often followed by strong self-doubt (I knew it, I should have saved myself that...), the question then arises: "How do I get it fixed now?". And this is where the two-component adhesive (2k adhesive) makes its grand entrance... -

Oh dear: the edges are slightly rusty and the base is showing light spots. Here and there, deep gashes even reach into the core of your treasure. In order to prepare it for the demands of a wide range of conditions, i.e. to make the boards optimally rideable, only one thing helps: spit in your hands and get to work!
