PowderAlert 12 2023 /24 | Infinite Südstau I
03/26/2024 • Lars OelmannAs in the age-old internet meme, Ullr asked someone how many Südstau he should send and everyone just shouted YES! And so it comes as it must. There's another Südstau and then another one or two during the weekend. Is that good? Yes and no. This one is great. Nice amounts and a good snow line. The one at the weekend will be tropically warm with 25 degrees in the north and rain above 2000 metres in the lift. And you'll hardly be able to enjoy this one, as it'll only clear up briefly and then it'll get really warm. -

Powderalert 11 2023 /24 | Ullr always snows on the thickest pile!
03/08/2024 • Lars OelmannWhile freeriders in the south are literally in the green and sitting on the black branch, the north is getting the literal foehn again. -

WeatherBlog 15 2023/24 | February too warm for March
03/06/2024 • Lea HartlThe mean temperature for February this year corresponds to a warmer than average March. In all Alpine countries, February was much warmer than usual and records were broken in many cases. The statistical winter (December, January, February) was also one of the warmest on record. Of course, the skiing winter is not over yet, and there will be more to come in the south at the weekend. -

02/29/2024 • Lars Oelmann"You better watch out what you wish for" - this or something similar came to the mind of the oracle when it wished that the southern congestion would please continue on the perfect weekend. -

WeatherBlog 14 2023/24 | Between southern storms
02/28/2024 • Lea HartlLast week's pattern is set to repeat itself: After a brief interlude of high pressure on Thursday, the southern flow will return with föhn in the north and wet weather in the south. Winter at altitude will continue and the mild, slushy spring at lower elevations will too. -

02/21/2024 • Lars OelmannWhen Ullr takes a rest from work in the evening, he treats himself and us to a Southern Comfort, because he feels at home in the Dolce Vita and invites us to take another trip to the Southern Alps. -

WeatherBlog 13 2023/24 | Winter comeback and the AMOC collapse
02/21/2024 • Sebastian Müller
On the southern side of the Alps, you could almost forget that winter isn't over yet: the first flowers are sprouting and a few cumulus clouds are already looming on the horizon. But wait, winter is making a comeback, and quite impressively too! We also turn our attention to the AMOC, which is once again in the spotlight thanks to a new study. -

PowderAlert 8 2023/24 | Light at the end of the tunnel
02/08/2024 • Lars OelmannIt's been a long, long time since the last alert. Unfortunately, the oracle in the last issue of PowderAlert was right: nothing happened before the beginning of February. And now it's almost the middle of February! -

WeatherBlog 11 2023/24 | suedstau, north foehn & a look into the crystal ball
02/07/2024 • Lea HartlThe westerly weather that seems to have lasted forever will come to an end over the next few days. At the weekend, we can expect accumulating precipitation in the south and foehn in the north. The outlook after that is still hazy, but at least more interesting than recently. -

PowderAlert 6 2022/23 | Strangely peculiar Piedmont
02/26/2023 • Lars Oelmann
The situation is bleak. The oracle has currently underestimated the volumes in the foothills of the Alps, because it would actually have been enough to sound the alarm this weekend in the foothills of the Alps (5km in, but not in the Alps), but we don't want to miss the next alarm. However, it is far, far away from where the Mon Cherie cherry is grown. And only there. -

12/02/2022 • Lars OelmannHouston, we have a dump. It's season 22/23, and the PowderGuide spaceship is exploring the endless expanses of the Alps in search of the infinite depths of powder. With this first alarm, we set off on what we hope will be a long and deep season in which Ullr will give us many gifts.
