WeatherBlog 1 2022/23 | Snow in the south, then mild again
11/03/2022 • Lea Hartl
We haven't really started the WeatherBlog season yet, but we'll take a quick look. The reason for this is winter, which is also popping in for a quick look, but then unfortunately turns around and goes back to sleep. It will snow heavily over the next few days, especially on the southern main ridge. There is less in the north, but here too the snow line is dropping towards 1000m. -

PowderAlert 15 2020/21 | Arctic April
04/11/2021 • Lars OelmannWhile the Oracle had become accustomed to swimming in the lake in recent years, it now has to remember the April months of the noughties, when you could ski powder more often. -

WeatherBlog 13 2020/21 | Winter is returning
02/10/2021 • Lea Hartl
After the interesting contrast of Sahara feeling in the Alps and snow chaos in the northern German lowlands, the cold is now making its way south. The coming weekend will be very cold with lots of sunshine. There will still be a little snow here and there today and tomorrow, but the coming cold phase will be mostly dry. -

PowderAlert 11 2020/21 | After the Südstau is before the Südstau!
02/06/2021 • Lars OelmannIs the snow melting everywhere in the foehn and further up there are deep layers of weak snow? No, not everywhere. A small, albeit not very Gallic region is bucking the trend this winter! -

PowderAlert 7 2020 /21 | Start of a series?
01/20/2021 • Lars OelmannUllr is getting into the corona streaming business in a big way and, if the crystal ball is anything to go by, wants to delight us with a whole season of more or less exciting weather conditions. As a pilot episode, he gives us something tried and tested to keep the freeriders happy and sends a short, normal südstau alarm. -

WeatherBlog 10 2020/21 | Föhn and snow replenishment in the south
01/20/2021 • Lea HartlA southerly foehn will end the cold, snowy winter weather phase in the northern Alps for the time being. The controlling low lies over the British Isles and, as is so often the case, warm air from the southwest will be brought to the Alpine arc. In the north, the next few days will be characterized by Föhn winds, in the south it will be cloudy with - depending on the altitude - liquid or solid accumulated precipitation. -

WeatherBlog 8 2020/21 | Little weather action, 2020 very warm
01/06/2021 • Lea Hartl
There has still been little change to the large-scale constellation of high and low pressure centers. The Atlantic current is blocked by a strong high and its continental counterpart is located over Russia. The low-pressure complex that has been keeping us busy in the Alps for some time is neither advancing nor can it be replaced by new lows from the west. -

PowderAlert 5 2020 /21 | New year, new südstau!
01/01/2021 • Lars OelmannUllr likes it comfortable and leaves the powder machine in the same setting as last time, we already know it. One man's joy, the Northern Alps' sorrow: there's another südstau. -

WeatherBlog 7 2020/21 | New year, new südstau?
12/30/2020 • Lea Hartl
After the südstau is before the südstau, or: To those who have, shall be given. The Christmas pattern is repeating itself and a calmer phase today and tomorrow will be followed by the next stormy southerly situation on New Year's Day. The focus of the precipitation will once again be in the south-east and we are once again waiting for a report from the oracle with further details. -

PowderAlert 4 2020 /21 | Powder between the years in the southeast and west
12/27/2020 • Lars OelmannIt's snowing again! Ullr at least tries not to cause us any more frustration this year and gives us a second helping in the south. Treeskiing at last! -

WeatherBlog 6 2020/21 | (Partly) white Christmas!
12/23/2020 • Lea Hartl
Good news for the Northern Alps! The Christmas thaw is still raging at the moment, but from Thursday evening it will get colder from the north with snow down to low altitudes. Presumably, a Christmas alarm will go out in the northern congested areas. We are eagerly awaiting a message from the oracle! -

PowderAlert 3 2020/21 | A little Christmas makeup in the north
12/23/2020 • Lars OelmannThere isn't (much) snow in the north yet, it's warm and there are thin layers of snow everywhere. At least Ullr has seen sense and wants to make the whole thing at least visually appealing on the festive days.
