The "lost valley" (the Listal) is one of the highlights of the Alagna ski area. The lonely descent first leads through a great gully and then over a wide glacier, directly below the imposing Liskamm (4527 m) back into the valley to Staffal - and covers a total of 1700 vertical meters.
Ascent
From the Indren mountain station, there is a long traverse, mostly pushing westwards, until you pass a few small rocky ledges. From here, you climb directly towards the Mantova hut above (north-east).
Descent
A little below the hut, you traverse a short distance to the west to reach the entrance gully of the main variant. For those who like it steeper, there are various access options further up and down on the ridge. On the glacier, skiers keep to the left, although there are various options depending on the snow conditions, all of which tend to head southwest (very often the glacier is also skied very far to the right). After the glacier spectacle, take a leisurely ride through the lightly wooded valley back to Staffal.
