It's that time again, the end of the year is approaching and it's time for fireworks. As the year draws to a close and the first firecrackers go off in the valley, it's worth taking a look up there. Innsbruck has been celebrating its mountain New Year's Eve on the Nordkette since 1994.

The first turns of the season have been made, but to be honest: There was still room for improvement. Classic: Over the summer, I completely forgot about the service and realized on the slopes that the slats were slowing down rather than gliding. So it was back to square one! With a few pallets, friends and hot wax, we now make the boards really smooth again. The next adventure can come - but this time with speed!

It's the weekend, the mountain is calling - and the same question arises as always: which glasses should I take with me? Classic sunglasses for bright skies - Blue Bird, as we love it - darken so much in flat light or whiteout that you can barely make out the contours. What was once born out of necessity is now almost a cultural asset of alpine skiing.

PowderGuide meets every year at the end of the season to celebrate a successful season together, catch up with old friends and make new acquaintances. Every year it's a highlight and this year Ullr meant well with us and blessed us with fresh snow. What a weekend - something between freeriding, abseiling, cooking and laughing together and talking shop about equipment and weather.
