As every year, the SLF Winter Report provides a comprehensive review of the past snow and avalanche season in the Swiss Alps. The weather conditions and the development of the snow cover are presented in detail. Avalanche accidents in the 21/22 season are listed in tabular form, and some selected accidents are analysed in more detail.

Ortovox is recalling the Litric airbag backpacks. In some cases, the recently introduced electronic airbags have problems with the blower unit. For this reason, Ortovox is voluntarily recalling all Avabag LiTRIC models (Avabag LiTRIC Tour, Avabag LiTRIC Freeride, Avabag LiTRIC Zero) including the zip-ons.

The 2022/2023 season is currently in the starting blocks. The first snow has fallen, but there's not much going on in the terrain yet. Nevertheless, Christmas is already approaching, more or less suddenly! As suitable gifts for freeriders and ski tourers is always welcome, we are once again presenting the PowderGuide editorial team's Christmas wishes this year.

The Austrian Alpine Association is once again offering the Avalanche Update this year, and we are pleased to announce that there will once again be more than 20 live presentations in Austria. We can expect the latest developments in practical avalanche awareness and rescue techniques, which will be illustrated using avalanche accidents from the previous season. A lecture for everyone who wants to get to grips with snow and its dangers again and prepare for winter in the mountains!

Today (Monday, 7.11.) from 12-13:00 Peter Plattner and Walter Würtl will ask the question: "Are you prepared for winter 22/23?" at the ÖGSL's Schnee.Semmelnar. After an introductory talk, there will be time for discussion with the speakers and the community.

The EOFT is going on a major cinema tour through Europe, with more than 100 stops in German-speaking countries. The program offers 8 films, packed with speed flying, whitewater canoeing, mountain biking, climbing, ultrarunning and two ski films are also included. It's finally time again! The ski and snowboard season is just around the corner! In Innsbruck, the new winter will be welcomed with the first Freeride Night on November 1st live at Moustache. The Freeride Nights are a meeting point for Innsbruck's local heroes and a stage for ski and snowboard "home videos". Motivated riders can still submit their videos until 30.10.!

The Alp-Con Cinema Tour is once again traveling through Austria and bringing spectacular films with it! As in previous years, the film program is a successful mix of top international productions and works by local filmmakers. Just in time for the start of the season, the Alp-Con Cinema Tour is back on the big screen with its snow film block and the new MSP film.

Toloka is a Slavic tradition: if an emergency occurs in a community, the whole village helps those affected - the aid organization YOUkraine translates this tradition into the 21st century to help neighbors in need.

As every year, we present a list that is probably incomplete and for which we cannot provide any guarantee! Many ski resorts seem to be starting a little later this year. On the other hand, some glaciers have been open since October 1st despite the unfavorable starting conditions and thanks to fresh snow.

Long awaited and now finally here after a long, hot summer: the first snowflakes at below 2000m, sugared mountains, push messages from the avalanche warning services. Even with a lot of motivation, it's not quite enough for ski tours yet, but we're still happy about the first hint of winter mood.
