Skiing, snowboarding, friendly people, sparse birch forests and a volcanic region that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A great base for a wonderful snow trip to another world.

Towards the end of the season, the focus shifts more towards firn descents, north faces and challenging, narrow residual snow couloirs. The cold and dark winter period was used by a small community to work ambitiously on the ideal setup for these goals. We are now proud to present the result of our hard work.

As a kind of afterthought to ISPO, which has now been over for a while, we would like to highlight a few highlights that our partner companies emphasized at the trade fair.

All winter long, we move around on these mostly wooden gliding devices. But why should we only wear this wonderful material from Mother Earth on our feet? The relatively young company einStoffen from St Gallen (Switzerland) apparently thought so too (2008).

In spring, when the fun of the lift becomes less for the common freerider and the joyful high skins become more, the additional equipment changes in small but important areas.

This was also the case with the last PowderAlert, or rather the heavy snowfalls, which not only kept the avalanche warnings busy, but also the civil protection. The SENDr came to me unexpectedly, but at exactly the right time. My old ski still works, but its best days are over and the ravages of the mountains have taken their toll on it. So I'm more than happy to have the opportunity to test this new gliding device.

If you haven't done it yet, you should definitely do it: get the shovel from the construction site, the probe from the flower bed (if it was used as a climbing aid, as it was for me in summer) and the avalanche transceiver from the basket for a mushroom search. It's winter!
