Snow depth prediction game | Freeride Testival Stubai Glacier 2026

Predict and win great prizes in the prediction game for the last Freeride Testival stop 2026 on the Stubai Glacier.

03/20/2026
PowderGuide
The legendary PowderGuide snow depth prediction game will be at the Freeride Testival stops four times this winter - and each time you can win great prizes. PowderGuide will be present at all stops to hand out the prizes directly. Now at the last stop on the Stubai Glacier from March 21 to 22, 2026, you can take home unique prizes from Faction, Head, Kohla and Scott Sports worth almost 2,000 euros!

PowderGuide on site at the Freeride Testivals

PowderGuide will be on site at the four stops of the Freeride Testivals this winter together with our cooperation partner Penguin with a stand, which has been aptly named The Powder Collective. The first stop took place on the last weekend in January in Hochfügen. Now it continues this weekend in Silvretta Montafon. The stand is the central hub for the community and offers much more than just an exchange of information and a betting game. It is also the meeting point for the Penguin Guide courses. You can also find more information here.

PowderGuide is also a weather partner of the Freeride Testivals 2026 and the new PowderGuide map can be seen on the website of the testival stops. Without giving away any big secrets: this year's winter is more concentrated in the south-west of the Alps. However, the snow conditions on the Stubai Glacier are not bad and the fresh supply of snow last weekend with more than ten centimetres and a few centimetres during the week did us good.

Due to the high altitude, there will certainly be one or two delicacies to be found at the weekend. Especially as the forecast for the Testival site is currently in the single digits below zero for both days. On Saturday night there are even signs of some precipitation, during the day it is not supposed to snow on either day, but there will be quite dense cloud cover.

Otherwise, the Alps will be dominated by high pressure, which is perfect for high altitude tours, as our meteorologists Mr. Steger and Mr. Müller already noted in Wednesday's WeatherBlog 20 2025/26. Much more exciting than the weather forecast, however, is the new discovery of the Steger-Müller cyclones, which are on their way to becoming a meteorological world sensation.

Stubai Glacier snow depth prediction game

The PowderGuide snow depth prediction game is usually called out with every PowderAlert: Everyone bets on the amount of new snow that will fall at a weather station by the end of the alert. Since this winter, the prediction game has been played in a slightly modified version at various events where PowderGuide is on site. At the beginning of November 2025 at the FreerideFilmFestival in Innsbruck and at the first two FRT-STopps in Hochfügen at the end of January and beginning of February in Silvretta Montafon and two weeks ago in Warth/Schröcken there was already intensive betting. The betting game for the last stop of the Freeride Testival 2026 on the Stubai Glacier is now coming up this weekend.

The precipitation really leaves a lot to be desired this winter, which is why we want to stick to our recently established prediction system.

In our weather maps, we not only have forecasts of various parameters, but also very good data on the current snow conditions and snow depth, which are provided to us by our partner ExoLabs. These maps are based on a combination of satellite and measuring station data and the ICON weather model from the DWD. And can be impressively analyzed in 3D on the new PowderGuide map .

In the Alps, these snow depth maps achieve a resolution of 20 x 20 m, worldwide still a respectable 300 x 300 m. The data from ExoLabs are the most accurate snow depth maps available on the market. Of course, they also contain deviations from the real snow situation, especially where it is difficult to analyze due to orography and e.g. vegetation (forest!), but they are very valuable for a reasonable preparation for the next ski tour and for the betting game anyway.

Das gilt es zu tippen

Once again, this is not about a forecast, but about the current snow conditions. In view of the many very good tips in Montafon and Warth, we are also leaving the decimal place. The prediction game question for the stop at the Stubai Glacier is therefore:

What is the current average snow depth [cm WITH ONE decimal place] in the Stubai Glacier ski area?

The guess is based on the ExoLabs snow depth map from March 17, 2026 with the previous day's analysis within the red polygon (see image above). The polygon is the area of the ski area defined by us.

You can also enter without being present at the Testival, but of course being there increases your chances of holding the prize in your hands!

Reminder: This is an estimation game, i.e. you can do the math yourself, but it's more fun and time on the skis to estimate. And in addition, the automatic evaluation of the prediction game master still applies. As always, there is no legal recourse.

You can find out how you can take part below - for now, let's move on to more important things...

What you can win

Once again we have organized great prizes for you from our partners Faction, Head, Kohla and Scott Sports - worth a total of almost 2,000 euros!

Faction Dancer 2 skis

For the third time, the first prize for the best tip is a pair of stylish skis. This time it's the Dancer 2 from Faction's current collection, which Timo tested extensively last winter and found to be great fun and an excellent all-rounder in the article Freeride Ski Test 2025/26 | Hochfügen!

To put it in Timo's words: "A very fun, sporty all-round ski with a strong carving character that conveys a lot of safety and is ideal for skiers who are looking for dynamics without having to ski at the limit all the time."

You can look forward to either the Dancer 2 in 171 cm or the 182 cm version, each worth 750 euros and in the color blue! You can then definitely call yourself the owner of a really good all-mountain freeride ski! Please note: Only these lengths of the Dancer are available and no cash payment can be made.

Head Day LYT snowboard and Neves Pro 5K ski goggles

The second prize for the second-best tip is a set of snowboard and ski goggles from PowderGuide partner HEAD. You can strap the HEAD Day LYT unisex snowboard in the length of your choice under your snowboard boots! Only the shortest length in 143 cm is no longer available this winter.

The description from HEAD promises a lot of fun: "Built for deep snow and steep slopes, the DAY LYT issimply unstoppable in powder. As the name suggests, we've made the weight of the board super light by using Hexagonal Core. With its long, float-generating nose, short pintail and set-back camber, this board has everything you need to excel in fresh snow and big mountain lines."

The special thing about this board is that it is "split ready", as the central bamboo stringer creates two water-repellent sidewalls when the board is cut up, which protect the core from the wet. We are therefore only awarding this prize with one catch: we would like the winner to send us a DIY craft article "Turning one into two | How a snowboard becomes a split"!

So that you can keep a clear view while tinkering, er, snowboarding, we're adding the HEAD Neves Pro 5K in the color black and size L on top. You can look forward to prizes with a total value of 630 euros!

This time, third place will be awarded with important ski touring equipment. Because without climbing skins there is no downhill fun. Or as PowderGuide partner Kohla describes their Alpinist FREE ski touring skin: "For fast ascents & perfect lines: light, fast and reliable. Developed for freeriders looking for the direct route to the best lines, it offers maximum efficiency on the ascent."

With 100 % mohair and a specially manufactured fur pile, the Alpinist FREE combines exceptional glide with a secure grip - even on wide skis. Recently, the gear reviews | Kohla Alpinist Pro by Lorenzo went online on PowderGuide, who was convinced of the quality of Kohla ski touring skins.

The winner:in can now put the Alpinist FREE version through its paces and test its glide and grip extensively. And because we never want to be alone on the mountain, you will also receive a skin for your ski touring partner. You can therefore look forward to a total value of 460 euros!

The fourth prize is a contemporary collector's item from Czech artist Posterlad: the limited edition FWT x Scott Shield goggle! You'll be perfectly equipped for the upcoming FWT finale in Verbier.

Of course, you'll also be able to enjoy the snow with it, as the SCOTT Amplifier lens technology ensures improved contrast and clarity in all conditions. Look forward to another collector's item for your display case or an eye-catcher on your helmet - but in any case a prize worth 140 euros!

Here's how you can take part

Submit your tip for the above prediction game question as a comment under this article by Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 12 noon CET . The time of the comment counts. QR codes linking directly to the article will be available at the Powder Collective stand at the Testival.

The winners will be announced on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 2 pm at the Powder Collective stand. Some prizes can be taken away directly, others will be sent out afterwards.

If there is a tie for one of the places, the winner will be drawn by lot. As always, legal recourse, exchange and cash payment are excluded.

Have fun and good luck with your predictions!
