WeatherBlog 15 2019/20 | Western weather, but colder
02/26/2020 • Lea Hartl
Stormy Yulia visited us before the current low Zehra. By now, we are used to stormy conditions with horizontal rain at 2000m and extreme wind peaks in the lowlands. Storm Yulia joined Petra, Sabine and Victoria in this respect last weekend. -

WeatherBlog 14 2019/20 | Daily greetings from the west
02/19/2020 • Lea Hartl
Once again, the weather continues to be mild and changeable. The polar vortex is bursting with strength and probably admires its muscles in the mirror every day. We look at Low Victoria a.k.a. Dennis and the outlook for the coming days. -

WeatherBlog 13 2019/20 | After the storm is before the storm
02/12/2020 • Lea Hartl
Storm Sabine, which was very present in the media and also in the weather, has left us again. The changeable westerly weather is still with us, but not quite as stormy. -

PowderAlert 12 2019/20 | North jam without flushing.
02/03/2020 • Lars OelmannLast week, Ullr made a brief appearance from early retirement, only to be washed away again by tropical masses of rain. This week is better, because first of all it's snowing everywhere in the northern congestion, and then it's staying dry so that you can use the snow for longer. -

WeatherBlog 10 2019/20 | Is this climate change now?
01/22/2020 • Lea Hartl
In the last few days, the WeatherBlog has often heard the question of whether the current weather misery can be blamed on climate change. WeatherBlog 8 2019/20 | Da kummt die Sunn
01/08/2020 • Lea Hartl
The sun isn't just coming, it's already here and it's starting to get a bit boring. The WeatherBlog was looking for musical inspiration for today's issue and now can't decide whether STS or Rammstein is more suitable. -

WeatherBlog 7 2019/20 | Prosit 2020
01/01/2020 • Lea Hartl
The new year begins as the old one ends: lots of sunshine, mild temperatures at high altitudes, cold in the valleys due to inversions and nocturnal radiation into the mostly starry sky. The flow will remain west to southwest and there is no significant precipitation in sight for the time being. -

WeatherBlog 4 2019/20 | Up and down with the west slide
12/11/2019 • Lea Hartl
A strong westerly flow will bring fronts and intermediate highs in rapid alternation. For the most part, it will remain too warm for the lowlands, but there will be more snow at higher altitudes. The western Alps are favored, in the east there will only be grazing snow. -

WeatherBlog 2 2019/20 | Brief cooling in sight
11/27/2019 • Lea Hartl
While the southern side of the Alps can already boast a more than decent base, the north is still struggling for the most part, especially at lower altitudes. It has recently been warm on both sides of the main ridge - in the south with rain up to high altitudes, in the north with snow-eating Föhn winds and in the center with gale-force winds. A change in the general weather situation is now bringing change. -

WeatherBlog 1 2019/20 | On your marks, get set, südstau
11/20/2019 • Lea Hartl
After our colleague Orakel has already reported four times, it's high time for the WeatherBlog to return from its summer slumber. We are starting the season with a classic overview of the very interesting general weather situation: -

WeatherBlog 16 2018/19 | Return of the westerly weather
02/27/2019 • Lea Hartl
The meteorological winter is coming to an end (the skiing winter is still a long way off, of course!) and with it, the permanent high that has dominated the Alpine weather for what feels like half an eternity is slowly coming to an end. -

WeatherBlog 12 2018/19 | Polar vortex brings südstau in a roundabout way
01/30/2019 • Lea Hartl
This time we start with a look at the big picture, or at least the northern half of the big picture. The polar vortex has not been swirling nicely around the pole for a while now, but is wobbling around irregularly with several low-pressure centers.
