The next north-westerly dust situation will snow on the northern slopes of the Alps and then spill over to the southern side of the Alps on Thursday. We notice that the polar vortex is favoring us and hope that it stays that way. Winter can begin and our new weather system is in the starting blocks.

For freeriders, these are not necessarily memories of the 1.57 m tall "Sexy" [censored swear word that deals with mothers and sexual activity], or of the "Artist Formerly Known as Prince" and his song, but of the exceptional February 1999 (exciting memory from the SLF). And this time Ullr invites us to another powder party.

PowderGuide meets every year at the end of the season to celebrate a successful season together, catch up with old friends and make new acquaintances. Every year it's a highlight and this year Ullr meant well with us and blessed us with fresh snow. What a weekend - something between freeriding, abseiling, cooking and laughing together and talking shop about equipment and weather. Three out of five Big Fives travelled, but more than two reasons to come back Engelberg's reputation as a freeride mecca precedes it. But what is it like in the notorious area when there is no fresh snow? In the past few days, fresh snow had been forecast time and again, but just before the deadline, Ullr decided to leave Engelberg out this time. The forecast for "our" Friday is 10-20 cm and we're keeping our fingers crossed.

The invitation to the pre-season camp fluttered into our inbox at the beginning of November in late summer temperatures and we immediately began to look forward to the upcoming winter. This anticipation increased even more when the detailed program arrived a week before the camp - coupled with the certainty that the conditions around Engelberg would be promising. I already attended the Big Mountain Camp last year. And if the pre-season camp is similarly well organised and adventurous, it could be the ideal refresher for the upcoming winter season.

On the last weekend of April, the PowderGuide team met up with friends, partners and long-time companions in Engelberg to celebrate the end of the season in style.

A small group of very friendly people who are dedicated to freeriding in all its facets organise a very special family event.

With this last nordstau, Ullr is sending us what could be the last cold snowfall suitable for weekends and the oracle is using this opportunity to bid a highly official farewell to the summer break, as medium range forecast does not look like there will be any more wintry surprises until the end of April.
