Travis Rice

Two contests this week: the Nendaz Backcountry Invitational and Kings & Queens in Corbet's. You can call them spectacles. Speedriding pilots in the French Alps, my favorite filmmaker and rider Jacob Callaghan in Japan and a short film from the perspective of parents who raised their son in the mountains. Plus fresh snow in the Alps. Get some inspiration - but watch out for your safety. There is also a nice video of a guide in Chamonix.

Manon Loschi's first solo project will win you over. Travis Rice takes Estelle to Alaska, and Magma is back with her best movie. In addition, the Salomon-Depart team is on the search for the forest man, and Gnu Snowboards delivers the snowboard film of the year.

The SLVSH Cup final is here—Max Moffatt faces off against Alec Henderson in an epic showdown! Plus, don’t miss an exciting podcast with Nick Russell as he dives into his unique backcountry approach, along with a sneak peek at Natural Selection Ski featuring Weazy. Meanwhile, Estelle heads to Alaska with Travis Rice—and she’s delivering big.

In unison with the sensitive PowderAlert, the VdW also warns of the approaching "mid-season blues". We are countering this with everything YouTube has to offer and hope for a mild course and a speedy improvement.

We have put together 25 trailers of films about freeriding for you and have also skilfully commented on most of them! Just take a look! The anticipation is building, the stoke is real and the order is in favour of underdogs.

Come one, come all, there's going to be plenty of presents! We have great entertainment from the most prominent protagonists and TGR to offer. Find your present!

Where at best only firn or steep gullies promise joyful activities in the given weather conditions, the VdW also go there on dry, wet or soaked terrain. We show Nikolai Schirmer and Xavier de le Rue, but otherwise I offer a selection of lengthy replays and more entertaining best-ofs from great contests. Unfortunately, in my opinion, they strive for a little too much HYPE/STOKE/SYKE. But let everyone find what they like!

Today we're bringing you the best of the best. Our protagonists have used their talent, stamina and style to become stars of the scene and won't let up! So: sit back and enjoy!

Another year has passed, and in this new one everything will be good and even better! The offerings have burned down, the wax has solidified into symbols and we now know exactly what is really important: video art and skiing!

After some of the more experimental works of recent years (think Ruin and Rose, for example), the trend for major productions in 2019 is once again moving in the direction of: "Story - what's that?" In the semi-professional home video sector, the focus is increasingly on sustainability and most films - in contrast to the previous year - no longer consist of 90% drone footage. Time- and roadless it's off to winterland!

A somewhat decimated field of riders enjoys the first FWT tour stop in Japan in excellent snow and weather conditions. Wildcard holder Travis Rice not only outdoes his snowboard colleagues on this face, Markus Eder wins the skiers' race ahead of Tanner Hall. Ari Tricomi picks up where she left off last season and Anna Orlova comes out on top in the snowboarding category.

It's just under a month until the first stop of the 2019 Freeride World Tour (FWT) takes place in Japan. The qualifiers (FWQ) and juniors (FJT) will also not start until the beginning of January. Nevertheless, to get you in the mood for the upcoming contest season, the following article summarizes which riders will be taking part in the tour this year. Who got a wildcard and who has advanced from the qualifiers? Find out here!
