Videos of the Week #1 2026/27 | Dusting of Winter

Between Fall and Longing for Winter

10/23/2026
Hannes Hemper
Every day, the powder gets closer; every day, the days get shorter; every day, this year’s video projects start rolling in. Salut! Welcome and ciao! “Videos of the Week” is back and bringing dreams to life. The best Slush Games, Markus Eder back in the park, and a sneak peek at the new “Legs of Steel” film. Voilà!

Video 1: Dusting Off the Playbook in Saas-Fee | Red Bull Performance Camp by Markus Eder

Markus kicks off the season in Saas-Fee, but before the usual park training begins, he starts his day by summiting the Allalinhorn. And this freerider—now in his mid-thirties—is really shaking the rust off his park skis! I can’t wait to see more of him this year in the new Legs of Steel film.

Riders: Markus Eder and friends

Video 2: SVALBARD 79°N - Ski & Sail 2026 by Roman Merle

The third adventure aboard the Ocean Sherpa, now in the heart of the Svalbard Archipelago. A journey into the in-between world of mountains and sea. Roman shows us stunning nature shots, daily life on the boat, and new ski runs every day, as well as new anchorages for the boat. Watch out—polar bears everywhere! What an exciting journey. While sailing north is surely something many readers have thought about, here’s someone actually living it.

Riders: Roman Merle and friends

Video 3: Stranger Things | Mike Hornbeck | NS Originals S5E01

New Schoolers Originals is back! And none other than Mike Hornbeck, an Armada veteran, kicks off the fifth season! His butters and presses are legendary, and now that he’s a dad, he’s still dancing through the park. Originals is a series that harkens back to the era of 2–3-minute park tapes and serves up some of the ski scene’s best highlights for us viewers.

Rider: Mike Hornbeck

Video 4: NUB TV EPISODE 3: NUBZ ON TOP by Armada Skis

Remember last season’s FWT? Nubz Ben Richards and Toby Rafford dominated the FWT. Here’s their third episode, done in the super-cool, old-school style of an MTV show. A little cocky, but so much character! And in a skiing world where we need personalities!

Riders: Toby Rafford, Ben Richards, and friends

Video 5: Polneve - A 72-Hour Italian Snowboard Adventure

The two Innsbruck-based riders, Maxi and Yanneck, show us their style in the Italian Alps. The song selection really spoke to me, and it’s a truly well-made short film. Very artistic, with excellent camerawork and editing.

Riders: Yanneck Konda and Maxi Priessinger

Video 6: Kuura Koivisto - Voilà

Kuura is part of the Finnish group Forre, which has revolutionized street skiing and filming. If the X Games bring back Real Ski, he’s one of the top picks. So many unique tricks that you have to watch three times to see what he’s actually doing in the air.

Rider: Kuura Koivisto

Video 7: Dakine | Laurent De Martin — Deep Days in Japan, 16mm

LDM has been producing the coolest ski films for years; his vision is unique, and here, featuring Tyall Wells, is a sneak peek at his new project, “Reverie,” for this season. Snow samurai!

Rider: Laurent de Martin

Video 8: Cheers to the Old 2-Seater - Alpental, WA

Alpental in Washington is a small ski resort near Seattle. In 2025, I visited the resort with Kyle Evers, a former K2 engineer, and experienced the magic of Chair 2 one last time! Such a great community and what amazing terrain! It’s great to see this love letter to the old chairlift!

Riders: Legends from Alpental

Video 9: Johan Berg at the Kimbo Sessions | CORE SHOTS

Downdays has a web series called Core Shots, where they follow skiers for a day in their lives. This episode features Johnny B during a day at the Kimbo Session in Sweden. You can see how amazing it looks there: skiing in the sunshine until late at night, with temperatures over 10 degrees and slush.

Riders: Johan Berg and friends

Video 10: Cari Cari - Wānaka (We Can't Not Original Soundtrack) | Official Visualizer

The soundtrack to the new Legs of Steel film *We Can't Not* and a sneak peek at the New Zealand segment featuring the Bilous family! Cool music by the band. I’m a big fan of original soundtracks for ski films—they add more depth to the projects and are just perfectly tailored to them! The video is pure fun.

Video 11: Newschoolers Brand Battle 2026 | 4FRNT Skis

This year’s Brand Battle features RMU, Line Skis, and 4FRNT. My favorite: 4FRNT! Newschoolers gave the teams various challenges that they all had to film and complete, such as landing a double flip over a natural hit or riding a rail blind.

Contest of the Week: Slvsh Games

SLVSH is a project by Olympic champion Joss Christensen. It’s like “Game of Skate” in the snow: one player sets a line, and the other has to copy it. Simple and so much fun to watch.

SLVSH || Matej Svancer vs. Cody LaPlante at Kimbo Sessions

The best, craziest park setups in the best park in the world. A neck-and-neck race between the best. Is there a trick Matej can’t do?
