Innsbruck can be seen as the freeride capital of Europe. Where, if not here, should children and young people have the opportunity to explore the terrain together with professional instructors and experience freeriding in a safe environment? The Freeride Academy Innsbruck pursues precisely these goals. The vision is: "to ski or snowboard well, have lots of fun and be out and about with maximum safety away from the secured pistes".

The Snow Safety Sessions organised by our long-standing partner Mammut have kicked off this season and we were there, live in the Allgäu! The event focussed on safety on the mountain - whether for ski touring or freeriding. Avalanche awareness is refreshed directly in the terrain! During a joint ski tour with state-certified mountain guides and Mammut safety experts, search scenarios are discussed, tried out and emergency equipment is tested.

Once again this year, SNOWHOW is offering free avalanche workshops for beginners and slightly advanced avalanche experts at the start of the freeride season. The one-day practical workshops are kept small with a maximum of 7 participants per mountain guide and the theory is applied and practiced directly in the terrain. The kick-off event will take place on December 2nd at 19:00h in the Carat Congress Center in Gurgl, Ötztal, in the form of a theory lecture.

Just in time for the start of the season, the Alpine Fair and Alpine Forum 2022 will take place in Innsbruck from November 12 to 13, 2022. In addition to exhibitions, lectures and film screenings, there will once again be the opportunity to take part in exciting workshops on the topic of safety in the mountains and refresh your own outdoor knowledge.

The "Schnee.Semmelnare" of the Austrian Society for Snow and Avalanches (ÖGSL) opens the new winter season with exciting, international lectures on the topic of snow and avalanches. The lectures take place monthly, are recorded online and are available for streaming on YouTube or on the ÖGSL website. Take a look!
