PowderAlert 13 2018/19 | Late winter powder the first.
03/10/2019 • Lars OelmannAs announced, it will snow several times this week. Now the first dump in the northwest is imminent. And to all those who are wondering why there is only now an alarm: Well, 20cm of snow above 2500m doesn't meet the criteria. Ullr is sending snow from the northwest to the west with strong storm lows and there are always short sunny spells in between. Temperatures go up and down like in westerly weather, but remain more powdery than this weekend. -

PowderAlert 12 2018/19 | The alpine touring season is over!
03/06/2019 • Lars OelmannIt's done. After a few small snowfalls over the last few days, none of which exceeded 30 cm, there is now finally some more snow in alarming quantities. Unfortunately only on a very small scale, but the medium term gives hope! Ullr seems to be back from his work abroad in California and is finally making us happy again with fresh snow. You can find more detailed information on the medium-term situation below. -

PowderAlert 11 2018 /19 | The alarm before the drought
02/10/2019 • Lars OelmannNormally we are happy about every alarm, but here the future looks rather sad. Will winter soon end again after the great start? More on this in the medium term. And before that, there will be more snow in the north. Anyone who still wants to take a vacation should seriously think about it. -

PowderAlert 10 2018/19 | One for all!
01/31/2019 • Lars Oelmann
Ullr has ordered a strange weather situation: Once for all powder and in the southeast also with sharp in terms of volumes. Unfortunately, there isn't cold powder for everyone, as Ullr is busy spreading the low over the whole of the Alps. And since air mass opposites, roughly simplified, are responsible for our lows, there has to be warm air on one side. -

PowderAlert 9 2018/19 | Powder in the West
01/27/2019 • Lars OelmannUllr has taken a break after his northern congestion excesses. Now it's getting back to work and bringing snow to the Alps. This alert is the prelude to an interesting week in the western Alps and then later possibly also in the southern Alps, although it is not yet clear how many alerts will result. -

PowderAlert 8 2018/19 | All good (?) things come in fives!
01/12/2019 • Lars OelmannThe fifth northern storm in a row and the ZAMG is talking about 30 to 100-year events in the east without this alarm. And once again, huge amounts will arrive by Tuesday. But thanks to Ullr, this time the core is further west. -

PowderAlert 7 2018/19 | Nordstau 4, the fourth horseman of the primal calypse?
01/07/2019 • Lars Oelmann"There ain't no party like a Nordstau party because a Nordstau party don't stop!" Unfortunately, the party part is long gone in the east and people are more likely to be hungover about the recent large amounts of fresh snow. Only in Switzerland can you still look forward to it, although there too the danger of avalanches will cloud the fun from Wednesday. -

PowderAlert 6 2018/19 | North jam the third, or off to the bunker?
01/04/2019 • Lars Oelmann
Ullr means well with us. Unfortunately too well. As with all triologies, the grand finale comes at the end: the return of King Ullr. But he wants to make the Eastern Alps look more like the second Star Wars and turns everything into the ice planet Hoth. -

PowderAlert 5 2018/19 | Nordstau the second
01/01/2019 • Lars Oelmann
Number 5 is alive! As promised, it's still going strong: it's snowing and it's getting cold. The oracle has already had a really nice day and is now writing live from the north parking lot. Even areas where there has been no snow in the valley for a long time will soon be worth it, because this alarm goes all the way down. -

PowderAlert 4 2018/19 | Traffic jam kick-off in the east
12/29/2018 • Lars OelmannThe last alert was too warm and too windy, but Ullr now promises to do better, at least in terms of temperatures. For a long time, it wasn't clear whether this dump would miss the Alps and end up too far east in no man's land. It was only in the last 24 hours that Ullr had an understanding and steered the flow further west so that at least the eastern Alps would be fully hit. -

PowderAlert 3 2018/19 | Ullr saves Christmas!
12/22/2018 • Lars OelmannWe're not dealing with the Grinch at the moment, who is making life difficult for our freeriders with his nasty behavior, but with warmth and rain up to 2400m. The weather is generally not very wintry at the moment. But Ullr is approaching to save the birth of another god and to give the red-clad guy from the Coca Cola ad a proper appearance with a sledge, at least in the Alps. How noble our favorite god is. -

PowderAlert 2 2018/19 | Ullr's Judgement day
12/07/2018 • Lars Oelmann
Just like in Terminator 2, Ullr is not letting his hair down and is finally spreading powder with a coarse trowel in the Northern Alps. As in the movie, the number of explosions is likely to be quite high in this alert due to the avalanche blasts: the SLF expects "very large avalanches", which should of course keep the fun to a minimum for a few days. More on this in the alert.
