Lorenzo Rieg • 07/23/2014Heinz Zak is not only a well-known climber, mountaineer, photographer and slackliner, but also an excellent connoisseur of the Karwendel. With his new book "Karwendel", he brings "his" mountains closer to more than just mountain enthusiasts in 280 pages full of pictures and stories. -

Freeride tour of the week | Ultenspitze
Lorenzo Rieg • 03/02/2014The Ultenspitze is certainly one of the most frequently climbed tours in the Schmirntal valley and therefore certainly not an insider tip. Nevertheless, it is often interesting, as its north-facing exposure means that it often offers good snow well into spring. Due to its short length, it is a good half-day tour, although the upper part can of course be done twice. -

Gear of the Week | Mammut Sphere UL Winter sleeping bag
Lorenzo Rieg • 02/22/2014The Mammut Sphere UL Winter is one of the lightest sleeping bags in its temperature class, and is correspondingly high-quality but also minimalist in terms of material and features. You can find out why I like using it so much in this edition of "Gear of the Week". -

Freeride tour of the week | Kappl - Quellspitze
Lorenzo Rieg • 02/16/2014The small ski resort of Kappl in the Paznaun Valley has been a household name for most freeriders since the Freeride World Tour stop was relocated from Fieberbrunn to the Quellspitze. Gear reviews | Salomon Quest Motion Fit Jacket & Pants
Lorenzo Rieg • 02/07/2014There are now various, mostly brightly colored clothing lines from a wide range of manufacturers on the market that are specially designed to meet the needs of freeriders. However, the Salomon Quest Motion Fit combination really stands out: special attention was paid to maximum freedom of movement in the cut and material. We have tested for you how the clothing performs in everyday freeriding and ski touring. -

Gear reviews | Dynafit TLT 6 Performance
Lorenzo Rieg • 12/31/2013The Dynafit TLT6 Performance is one of the lightest ski touring boots not developed for ski touring racers. But not only the weight, but also the walking mode with maximum shaft rotation and the short sole length promise great ascent characteristics. The very stiff carbon shaft is also very promising for downhill skiing. -

Gear of the Week | The Legend - Völkl Explosiv
Lorenzo Rieg • 12/14/2013The bedrock of powder skiing history. When the Völkl company brought out its widest ski to date for the 1993/1994 season, it was not only so wide that it was practically exclusively intended for heliskiing in North America, it could not even be pressed in pairs as is usually the case with skis, the existing presses were simply too narrow. -

Freeride tour of the week | Reither Kar
Lorenzo Rieg • 12/09/2013The small Rosshütte ski area in Seefeld is particularly interesting for freeriders thanks to the diverse downhill options in the Reither Kar. Steep and often powdery north-facing runs can be reached with a short ascent.
