Freeride tour of the week | Igelskar
Lorenzo Rieg • 04/21/2013The tours from Ehrwald into the Mieminger Kette, especially into the Brendlkar, Drachenkar and Igelskar are much-visited classics. Nevertheless, a visit to the area is often worthwhile. In addition to descents of all levels of difficulty, you will often find good powder snow or firn until late spring. -

Book tip | 2x14 eight-thousanders
Lorenzo Rieg • 12/23/2012Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner and her husband and rope partner Ralf Dujmovits have been known to the general public at least since their summit success on K2, the world's most difficult eight-thousander. By climbing the second highest mountain in the world in 2011, Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner became the first woman ever to climb all 14 eight-thousanders without the aid of bottled oxygen. Ralf Dujmovits was the first German to complete the series back in 2009 with his ascent of Lhotse. In the book 2 x 14 eight-thousanders, recently published by Bruckmann Verlag, many of the experiences of the two top mountaineers on the world's highest mountains are recounted in words and pictures. -

And still surprisingly stiff. We tested it for you in the Mountain TF-X version and tried to find out whether its advantages in the ascent make up for any disadvantages in downhill performance. -

Lorenzo Rieg • 05/17/2012The very popular tour to the Wildspitze, Austria's second highest mountain, is a day trip thanks to the lifts in the nearby Pitztal glacier ski area. Nevertheless, it is a high alpine undertaking that should not be underestimated despite the crowds of visitors.
