Videos of the Week #16 2025/26 | L'Experience Magnifique
02/20/2026 • Hannes HemperTwo contests this week: the Nendaz Backcountry Invitational and Kings & Queens in Corbet's. You can call them spectacles. Speedriding pilots in the French Alps, my favorite filmmaker and rider Jacob Callaghan in Japan and a short film from the perspective of parents who raised their son in the mountains. Plus fresh snow in the Alps. Get some inspiration - but watch out for your safety. There is also a nice video of a guide in Chamonix. -

Videos of the Week #8 2025/26 | Fickle Business
12/12/2025 • Hannes HemperThis week has it all. The two Kiwi-Bens present a cinematic masterpiece that they shot in their home country. Sage Kotsenberg delivers one of the coolest intros ever, whose animated style evokes nostalgic memories of old games. There's also one of the best SLVSH games in a long time - this time as an all-mountain version instead of in the park. And finally, Bucket Clips enters its fourth round: Rosina's passion project, which brings together women and FLINTA people in the freeski scene. -

02/14/2025 • Hannes HemperThis week I'm launching a new sub-category: the History Lesson, in which I show must-watch videos from the past. It starts with a snowboard film that even inspired Candide. There's also a really nice project from Arc'teryx and a dose of style from Henrik and Phil aka B & E. -

Videos of the Week #7 2023/24 | Mid Season Blues
01/19/2024 • Sebastian MüllerIn unison with the sensitive PowderAlert, the VdW also warns of the approaching "mid-season blues". We are countering this with everything YouTube has to offer and hope for a mild course and a speedy improvement. -

Videos of the Week #2 2019/20 | Let's go ECO pro!
11/29/2019 • Sebastian MüllerOf course, we have the first moving images of the Southern Alps on offer. But we are mainly dedicated to the new generation of professional freeriders who seem to run their own YouTube channels. After all, are the days of big productions over? Do freeride pros now have to film and market themselves? Is switch skiing, backflips and drinking beer no longer enough? As an encore, there is also a WDR documentary about "Skiing in Afghanistan, the Olympics and St. Moritz". -

Movie review | TGR Winterland
10/25/2019 • Lars Oelmann
The trailer didn't really convince me, but the movie makes it clear right from the start that Winterland will once again be one of the better TGR flicks. Despite the Warren Milleresque title. -

Movie review | Rogue Elements
02/01/2018 • Robert BachmannFirst things first: I find it difficult to write this review. That's not because I don't have an opinion on the movie. It's mainly because I did watch the movie, but nothing really stuck with me. Powder here, powder there, bad conditions in South America, seals, Chamonix, Johnny Collinson. -

Movie review| TGR- Tight Loose
10/20/2016 • Lars Oelmann21 years of TGR. 21 years of pushing boundaries in skiing and, apparently, alcohol consumption. Because if there is one thing that runs like a red thread through Tight Loose, it is the thought of the 21st birthday, which is of course a memorable event for Americans who like to drink. In Tight Loose, the occasion is repeatedly used to embed anecdotes from the past into the current film. -

Movie review | The Dream Factory - TGR
12/26/2012 • Volker Lehmann
This year, Teton Gravity Research presents "The Dream Factory", a film that shows the development of freeriding in Alaska from then until today. The film depicts the first beginnings of heliskiing in Alaska and the protagonists who have made this place what it is today: the dream of all freeriders. You can see big mountain skiing at its best in Alaska with small detours to Pemberton (BC) and Jackson Hole (WY) that are well worth seeing.
